Canada no longer has a distinctive culture, it's just a slightly warped quasi-American culture

Tim Horton's is owned by a Brazilian company. We have Amazon Prime vans on every street. Poutine has become something that Gordon Ramsey cooks up in his rescued UK restaurants. Degrassi Junior High went from Canadian social issues to American-esque soap opera drama. The only Canadian things in the Canadian-set Pixar movie Turning Red were shots of the CN Tower and a woman calling a boy a "hoser" (a word most Canadians don't actually use, by the way). My neighbourhood is bordered by a Costo, an IKEA and a Wal-Mart. Most commercial items sold here are made in China unless you go to local specialty stores or thrift shops. We have condos popping up everywhere, these ugly eyesores too expensive for the average Canadian to afford, and we've lost the things that used to celebrate accurate depictions of our multicultural and Indigenous history. CTV and CBC are flooded with mostly American media, while a lot of Canadian content is relegated to public archives and arthouse theatres on the university campuses. There was this big push in the 90s to promote Canadian culture, so we got a lot of things like the Heritage Minutes or Quebec-based actors in Are You Afraid of the Dark? and stuff, but for the most part, Canada is just a contained version of globalization run mostly by a United States influence. Sometimes the only way to tell you're even in Canada is to look for a red-and-white flag.

Drivers Ed should be a free elective in HS.

Opinion as stated. Driving is a privilege of course, but it's a very neccessary life skill for most people. There are a lot of people who don't live in cities and areas that are conducive to rely on public transit, so driving is a neccesity.

As expensive as driving and owning a car is, getting the education to drive shouldn't be cost prohibitive. It's good to at least KNOW how to drive and have held a liscence, even if you don't have a car of your own. It seems awfully steep for a HS to charge nearly $500 for a six week course. Even adult drivers ed is pretty steep as well (sometimes moreso).

Don’t bring your pets to the store.

The only exception to this are service animals. Lots of people take advantage of the fact that service animals don’t need to be identified like wearing vests so they just bring random ass animals in the store. I don’t know how you take care of you animal. That thing could have fleas or just plain dirty. Most people are going to avoid confrontation so they won’t say anything and employees don’t get paid enough to argue with customers so it’ll continue to happen.

Coming from a non-American, the USA is the most naturally beautiful country in the world

Just because of it’s sheer size and position, it’s got almost every single ‘biome’ you could imagine. You want snowy mountains like Europe? Colorado (plus like 20 other states). You want tropical islands with crystal clear water? Hawaii/Florida.You want massive red rock formations? Utah. The USA just has everything and does it just as well as any other country. You don’t typically think of USA for snowy mountains, yet heaps of mountain ranges there are just as pretty as the Swiss alps. Hawaii and even Florida have some of the prettiest tropical environments in the world and yet don’t get the credit for it.

Birthday weeks/months are stupid

It’s stupid and annoying when people use their birthday as an excuse to go crazy/demand stuff from people for a whole week/month. I know people who constantly say “it’s my birthday month” and everyone’s just expected to treat them like they would on their ACTUAL birthday but whole a. whole. frakin. month. I don’t get it. I really don’t. It makes me dread their birthday.

Using big complicated words shows that the person is not actually intelligent. Actual intelligent people will want the person to understand what they are saying so they will speak as clearly and as simply as possible.

You get a lot of comments on social media where the person is trying to be flashy and 'smart' by stuffing the comment full of big, scientific and unnecessary words. They think it makes them look clever, but if they were actually clever, they would use simpler words to understand because intelligent people want others to understand the comment as easily as possible.
