"The state has now secured a total of $3.2 billion through legal action to help fight the opioid crisis, according to Moody's office. That includes recent settlements of $683 million with Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA.O), $484 million with CVS Health Corp (CVS.N) and a combined $394 million with three drugmakers."

"Major drugmakers and distributors have reached nationwide settlements worth more than $30 billion altogether, resolving most lawsuits against them, while pharmacy operators have continued to litigate or settle cases one by one."

https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/walmart-pay-215-mln-settle-florida-opioid-claims-2022-10-20/

"Tampa Bay’s opioid overdose rate of 23.3 per 100,000 population is 9.75% higher than the State of Florida, and 50.5% higher than the nation.

Nearly 3 people die every day in Tampa Bay from an opioid overdose, totaling 1,024 deaths in 2019.

Experts estimate that the economic impact of the opioid epidemic on Tampa Bay is roughly $25 billion lost each year in gross regional product, and 35,000 workers sidelined from the labor force."

So they recently announced stores with ID Now machines will be rolling out flu testing. And from there, each announcement has been worse and worse. It started with: only pharmacists will be able to do the flu tests. So we thought, “ok, the rph will have to step away from their other 1,000 duties to come to the window and talk the patient through doing the swab a time or two per day…annoying, to say the least.” THEN they said: pharmacists actually have to ADMINISTER the swab. And we started thinking, “ok wtf, we did not sign up for this…” And NOW it’s: as of 10/12 ALL drive thru testing will be discontinued and regardless of test type, the patient will be coming in the store to be tested. And if I could afford it, I would have quit on the fucking spot. I was on a conference call and they were acting like this is no big deal, it’s super safe, it won’t affect workflow, it won’t disrupt business in any way. Have any of these people even set foot in one of their pharmacies over the past two years?? It’s like they are living in some alternate universe and have no concept of what is ACTUALLY happening in their stores. My district alone has multiple pharmacy closures DAILY, and instead of focusing on getting their stores staffed and back to regular operating hours, they decide it’s the perfect time to heap more work onto their teams who are beyond burned out. And then they act like YOU are the crazy one if you bring up any concerns. I don’t even know why I’ve stayed on this long but it’s long past time to jump ship. My mental health just can’t take it anymore.

UPDATE: I called my DM this afternoon and put in my notice. Finishing up the pay period then I’m out.
