It's cool gadgets and Futuristic

[–]ConfoundedInLove [score hidden]  (1 child)

Name: Move it!

How to play: Players can be just solo or multiplayer. If multiplayer, each player will play their section and then pass to the next player - going in a round robin.

Game Play: 1. Similar to Simon says - game will tell you want action to do and you have to do it. - each round will get progressively faster and more commands 2. Memorization - start with one command and then pass it. Do the previous command and new one as told by the WOWCube. Continue until someone fails to memorize the chain of commands.

I think a planetary war game would be fun. You and another person would set up gravitational wells along the sides of the cube and both you and your opponent need to upgrade their planet to blast them with as many rail guns as possible, trying to get past the grave well while doing it.

My idea for a game is that each screen of the cube lights up a certain color, there's 4 of each each color, and 6 colors altogether. At the beginning of the game, the colors are randomly switched to other faces, and the aim of the game is to twist the faces so that all the screens with the same color are on the same side of the cube.

This thing is wild. I think I'd have to play with it to understand it.

[–]Gandeh [score hidden]  (0 children)

Timed rubix cube where it changes the faces in X seconds based on a timer.

"Bomb Defuse", similar to the work together keep talking and no one explodes?

For the kids, a "match puzzle" Animal Sets? where you have to get the animal, its habitat, its food and the sound it makes onto the same side then they interact together.

[–]dumaa [score hidden]  (1 child)

How about a music game- you can set each side to be an instrument of choice, and you can play chords or notes choosing from the 4 faces. Maybe you could set it up on a loop and increase tempo by twisting the cube.

Or maybe a multiplayer drawing game. Players create or draw a monster on their phones. Once everyone is done, bits of everyone's monsters get projected onto the cube. So, player A's monsters head is connected to player B's monsters neck etc.,

Some sort of game where you pass it around the table and each player can make a turn. It would be kind of like hot potato but with puzzles that you’d create that each had a different mechanic that would effect the next player in some way.

[–]Master_JBT [score hidden]  (2 children)

rubix cube except it occasionally randomizes some of the faces

[–]redditperson987 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Like Simon, where it animates a particular movement and you have to match - starting at one movement and incrementing.

[–]TheBoggart [score hidden]  (0 children)

“Bouncer’s Big Adventure.” Bouncer is a little pink ball with eyes, no appendages or other body parts. He is controlled by tilting the cube to roll him, and shaking the cube up to make him jump. Bouncer’s Big Adventure plays like a platformer, with Bouncer rolling and jumping to new areas. Puzzle elements might include moving the Cube’s screens to connect platforms or unlock hidden areas. Enemies are defeated by Bouncer jumping on them, or by performing a super spin roll, which is activated by moving the Cube in a circular motion.

Make a timed party game where you have to twist the cube into the correct pattern displayed and then pass it on to the person next to you. It’s like hot potato but with the added puzzle-solving element. You can also display a timer on the screen.

A cool idea may be to create a 3D game where each face displays a different side of the game, and you have to look everywhere to find the path (and eventually twist the cube to make new paths)! And maybe play with the gravity of the game.

How about a new take on battleships, played entirely by touch, where you have to control the position of your shots from an overhead or front angle by the front face, but you also control the depth or range of your shot with one of the side faces?

You vs a friend, or vs computer.

Also, ever play Captain Toad on the Wii U? A platformer like that, where you rotate the cube and various pieces of it to change the level.

I would love to see some kind of final fantasy tactics style of game where movement would be made by tilting and combat would be replace by some kind of qte with twist, tilt and shake to attack/pary/defend. Fight would become more and more intense and being able to lose some characters would make the game "hardcore" and force you to give it your best.

What about a game like Mr. Jump (mobile platform scroller where you just tap to jump and have to evade obstacles and make it to the end) where you have to continually move throughout the entire cube, making it to each side before beating the level. Name: Maze Master

Description of game: you start off in a maze where only one quarter of the cube is illuminated, you have to navigate through the maze and get to another corner of the cube and complete a puzzle to light up the next area. This maze would include enemies, traps and bosses. Once you reach a door for a boss the whole cube would become playable and you’d have to use the combat of the character alongside moving the cube to fight and win against the bosses. These bosses would drop loot such as weapons and armor. Once you defeat a boss an animation appears of your character opening a door and the maze opens a new quarter of the cube. You can move the maze around to find new areas. So if you were stuck in one area, twisting the cube could open a new place. You would use the other mechanics such as shake and tilt to complete tasks such as rope walking where you have to balance, dodging etc.

Game Characters: Bun - small character with little health but very fast, where you have the ability to jump through certain areas to the next side of the cube. Molt - Medium size character which can dig under certain areas to different parts of the cube and has range fire abilities Pinch - Medium size character who has good close range attack and health , special ability to hold heavier items

Obviously other characters but the above are examples

I think this would be a really fun game to play

While it is not the most original idea, creating a 4d rubicks cube or some similar puzzle to run on the system would be a neat demonstration concept you control the X, Y & Z axis by turning the cube and the W axis by sliding your finger along one of the sides.

You could also make a platformer for it when you change the level by spinning the cube.

I propose "Little Red Riding Hood" as a keep-away game. The player's goal is to keep LRRH away from a Wolf, and each tile on the WOWCube® contains one character, that moves in any direction by twisting. Difficulty and complexity can be added by increasing the number of wolves, by adding a sacrificial Grandma that sates a Wolf and keeps it in place, by adding a Woodsman that eliminates a Wolf, and limited safeties can be used by tilting or shaking.

Game Idea: Runner Game Characters: Main=The Runner, Bad guys: Frog that jumps, Snail is slow, snake is long, Rabbit is erratic.

Game Play: The Runner starts in the lower left front cube and starts running towards the right. The running will wrap around each cube face. As The Runner runs, things will show up on the cubes to the right. These will be things that need to be jumped by double tapping, or be avoided. You can avoid them by rotating the cube on the right, up or down. The longer The runner goes without jumping, the faster The Runner goes.

So The runner will run, and the next cube may show a snail. Above that cube may be a road with nothing in the way, and the below cube may have a dead end. So they can try to jump the snail, or take the easy road but they go a bit faster.

The Frogs eyes will shut just before he/she jumps. The user will have to judge if they need to jump or just run under it. The snake is long, so needs two non-jumping cubes to be able to jump. The Rabbits eyes move just a bit before he/she moves. This needs to be accounted for when jumping. And Rabbit may move the way you are going, so you may need the long jump used on the snake.

Each "Bad guy" has three (or more) types, and each moves faster than the others.

Other things you can jump is a heart for an extra life. But step in oil (or water) and your slide when you try to jump for the next cube.

Scoring is based on cube distance traveled, with bonuses for jumps and distance jumps. Also faster movement gives faster points.

Alternative mode, instead of auto running, you must tilt the cube to make him run. This is more complex as you must tilt and twist at the same time.

In both cases it should be clear by the points on screen and noise, that going faster gives more points.

Ever seen those games where you tilt the ball through a maze? Same idea, but the bottom face changes every time it's rotated to keep expanding the maze. Turn and rotate to move the ball. Shake to jump. Twist the faces while holding it still to move the maze. I'm thinking a 4x4 grid for each discrete face of the cube, so 8x8 for each side. Maybe even go even finer for harder difficulties.

Name: Escape from the Box

Characters: Jane, a kidnapping victim who needs the player’s help.

Imagine each of the eight modules that makes up the WOWCube system is actually a prison cell, and there’s a (live-action?) prisoner trapped inside the system who needs your help to escape.

The game starts with Jane slamming her hands on the transparent outer wall of her cell. She stumbles backward in shock when the player touches her cell from the outside.

She explains what happened to her and solicits the player’s help in escaping.

The ceiling in her cell is much too tall for her to reach, but by gently twisting the cube, you can help her move from the floor, to walk on a wall, to walk on the ceiling of the (now upside-down) cube to reach the first puzzle, a hatch which opens to the cell above (now below) hers.

By adding or removing cubicles, remembering sequences (like the game Simon), and other puzzles the player and the prisoner uncover the dark secrets of the Box… and a way out.

“What did you just do?” the prisoner says, reacting to a noise resulting from a user action that happened on the opposite side of the system. “Hey, look, a panel just opened here. I wonder what happens if I pull this lever…”

Early goals are to help the prisoner move freely from one cell to another. Eventually, internal windows and walls are broken. Maybe an anti-gravity system is uncovered and the prisoner can float between rooms in later stages.

The character can react in real-time to cube movements, and the player must take care not to shake it, or turn it upside-down (except as required by the story’s puzzles) to keep the prisoner safe.

———

Name: 3D Stacker

Characters: Pixel Pete, a tiny block character who explains the game’s mechanics from his perch on top of the control cube.

One cubicle serves as the main interface (the control cube), and the other seven serve as building blocks. Your job, as the player is to watch for the prompt and try to reconstruct what it looks like, using only the seven remaining cubicles and with a severe time limit, maybe 3-5 seconds.

The sculptures appear abstract at first, but correctly solving them causes images to display which reveal their real-life form. The player builds a simple tree shape or a flamingo, for example and, when it’s finished properly, images appear on the screens to form a 3D picture model.

Even though it’s more meant for adults, I could see this (a stripped down version and ruggedized) to help toddlers with object perception.

Bomb Inc: You play as Josu, a bomb specialist. Depending on difficulty, there can be one, or several, puzzles to solve in order to diffuse the bomb before the timer runs out. Puzzles include solving a multidimensional image, carefully picking a lock, arranging the blocks in a specific order, etc. Can then expand to multiplayer in party mode and behave similar to hot potato; each player has a certain time to solve the puzzle or else BOOM!

Turn base RPG game, but you have to turn the game cube like a rubik to move your “character square” next to the monster/treasure/items square to interact with it. Each turn you will only have a 5 seconds to rotate however you wish, then it’s will be the monster turn.

A bit like a puzzle or a maze, but with sand or gravel (degree of difficulty), and waves (harder) to move (tilt, shake/reset, turn, mix) shells (or garbage, in an "eco" version) on a virtual beach that extends on all 6 sides in order to gather them all together.
There should be a "freeze" function (e.g. turning a piece of the cube to decrease the water temperature) to stop playing and resume later.
Name : Pick it up!
Characters: water, sand/gravel, garbage or shells by their names like "PET bottle" or "starfish".

Here's a cool idea for a game, a company makes a product and then hires people to come up with ideas and pays them real money

I was inspired after seeing the video of the WOWCube by the old Lemmings games, so I present:

Gnome Roam

A large group of gnomes (20-50) enter a mine in hopes of finding gold.

As the player, you lead them safely to the gold, while making sure you avoid all the perils along the way.

When the level starts, the camera will pan from start to finish to give the player an idea of the layout.

Levels will include many pits the gnomes can fall into, enemies like moles and Rats that can eat the gnomes, and elemental perils like lava pits and pools of deep water.

The gnomes all move from the top-left cube to the top-right cube. The bottom two cubes will contain different tools you can assign to the gnome in front.

An example of some tools will be a STOP sign, that the lead gnome places down behind them to stop the other gnomes from moving, or a ladder that the lead gnome will build to move upwards until the ladder tool is selected again, or a pickaxe tool that the lead gnome can use to dig through walls. The player must use these tools to safely get the gnomes to the ore at the end of the level.

A score for each level is given based on the time it took to complete the stage as well as how many gnomes made it safely to the end.

Post real terms & conditions with alternate entry methods for your contest imo

Rhythm game where you gotta tilt to get a critter to the correct biome cube face and poke it to the beat or something idk. Different doods for different climates.

Also if this ever ships I will eat hot chip

Man this would be so cool. It’s like a GameCube but 2022. If I had to come up with a game idea it would be like a retro game. Sort of like Galaga but better and more modern, using motion controls. Shaking to fire ammunition and tilting to move the spaceship. The characters would be unnamed actually, but pixelated in style, like Galaga itself. Just shoot all the enemies to win, while collecting viable power ups and going for high scores. Online play and co-op must be in there, too!

I would make a card game like spider solitaire called Seeds of Sand but I don’t know exactly the odds of the cards with the card game; it would involve characters such as jack queen king and joker and also a Lady Gaga impressionist and on top of that, the mechanics would be extremely streamlined and straightforward and fair and would have clever animations. You would tilt it back to pick a card, twist it to flip your cards upside down, and in this game there would be no use of the shake effect, but that doesn’t make it a bad game! All the other motion controls would be used though. This might appeal to classic gamers, because it is only using half of the motion features. Using all of them might overwhelm a “classic“ style gamer.

But now is the moment when any 3rd party developers can try their skills on the company’s DevKit and create their own game. You can try it now - a link to the DevKit

Seems like something that would be fun to build for, but the link to the DevKit is missing. Any chance you update the post to include it so that those of us that might be inclined to build something for it could check it out?

I like this product idea! I'd LOVE to see a tetris game on the wowcube... when a piece begins falling you can twist the top part and change the side of the 180° x-axis it will land in. can definitely see this being a hit!
