Last year we put out a guide on how to post injury threads during a game, and we think this year it would be beneficial to outline what we’re looking for in Player Discussion threads.
The hope is that this will result in higher quality posts and create a consistent experience with Player Discussion threads.
Here are the guidelines that you should follow when posting Player Discussion Threads, and what we will follow in removing them:
1. Player Discussions about a player still playing will be removed.
These all belong in the Game Day Threads. Injury threads will be allowed per the FAQ her right in the PSA post.
2. Immediately following a game, all player discussion must be kept to the Postgame Thread
More often than not, these posts are low quality, reactionary posts. They clutter up the sub and don't encourage good discussion.
3. Standalone Player Discussion threads will be allowed several hours after the game’s conclusion
At this point, quality will be heavily taken into account. We’re looking for non-reactionary posts that pose serious questions and include basic analysis such as:
- Game statistics (targets, touches,)
- Game flow breakdown
- Future outlook (schedule, relationship with teammates)
4.The following day and through the remainder of the week, the quality requirement will go down
We do realize a quality post probably will not be made for all players, so we'll be more lax in what is allowed in order to at least get something for a player. We still will not allow these type of Player Discussion posts:
- “I didn’t watch the game, how did Player X look?
- “WTF happened to Player Y? Only 2 fantasy points?”
- “Player Z looked great. Top 5 ROS?”
- "Player X Appreciation Thread"
- Otherwise generally over-reactionary
- No title/body asides from player name
- Phrases the discussion in a way to receive advice per Rule 1
- Over-specifically compares two players
- Duplicates of recently discussed players (barring any major news) in the News and Discussions sticky (Use search!)
As always, please report any rule violations! Feel free to post any questions/suggestions in the comments below.
