In video games, the first person refers to a graphical perspective rendered from the viewpoint of the player character. In many cases, this may be the viewpoint from the cockpit of a vehicle. Many different genres have made use of first-person perspectives, ranging from adventure games to flight simulators. Perhaps the most notable genre to make use of this device is the first-person shooter, where the graphical perspective has an immense impact on game play.
Games with a first-person perspective are usually avatar-based, wherein the game displays what the player's avatar would see with the avatar's own eyes. Thus, players typically cannot see the avatar's body, though they may be able to see the avatar's weapons or hands. This viewpoint is also frequently used to represent the perspective of a driver within a vehicle, as in flight and racing simulators; and it is common to make use of positional audio, where the volume of ambient sounds varies depending on their position with respect to the player's avatar.

First-person perspective enhances your immersion, letting you experience your character's adventures from right behind their simulated eyeballs. It unfortunately also means seeing through their eyes when they get set on fire, whacked in the groin, or surgery. Since the day I got my Canon 5D HDSLR, I always wanted to shoot a POV style narrative film. From waking up, to eating, to driving, I wanted to fully embrace the idea seeing life in a way that we all do. Small narratives play out in our daily lives every single day, this is just my way of documenting it. For this film I rigged up a Canon 5D MKII to sit right about where my neck is. Using both a belt and the supplied neck strap, I was able to steady the camera and maintain use of both arms to perform the actions in the film. I shot the film on the Canon 16-35mm at 16mm to produce the wide-angle effect. For the later scenes in the film, I used a Lensbaby Composer with Wide-Angle adapter. This time on Fiction Focus, we're breaking down exactly what it takes to create a successful first person narrative, and talking through a few of the methods we can use to enhance the effect of our chosen perspective. I sincerely hope this video helps a few of you out there who want to write in first-person, but might be struggling with certain elements of the process. There's a lot of info covered in a short amount of time though, so I'm open to making more videos in future that go into more detail about particular aspects, if anyone thinks that would be useful. *The music used here is from the Max Payne 3 OST, and was created by the band HEALTH. Sorry for not posting any videos for a long time. I've undergone a knee surgery a few months ago and recently got myself a GoPro camera, so I should be uploading videos more regularly now. This is a short clip from a shooting session I had today testing this headmount and new camera. Draw, rack, shoot slow 5, reload, shoot fast five. Added some "hitcam" footage for all the people asking to see the hits in the last videos comments. The pistol I'm using is a Jericho 941 FS, with minor trigger adjustments. Comment below if you want me to make a video of something in particular.
Track: When I'm Small - Phantogram We just got back from a sailing trip through Turkey's Turquoise Coast. I also just got a GoPro for my birthday so of course there are hours of footage to go through, this is the first video as a test to learn Premiere Pro, I am currently editing a full version featuring the whole family.

CYNE - first person (lyrics)
Interlude
Yo, God, you eva wonda what the fuck ya purpose is out here man, whatchyou put on this earth for?
HERE WE GO AGAIN
Nah, for real man
Verse 1
I was a child of the 80s, growin up in the 90s
A small black child of power you couldn't find me
Because I shyly, would hide away from the faces
They used to look me in the face, "Baby you'll make it"
And told me to stand strong, because you're gonna be
Gone beyond the darkest sunshine hard
A new day
So I pray I'm gonn make em right I fight for life and make sure my lifes right
I stand strong on my own two
SO what you gonna do? I hold you
In the web of my speech and mold you
Into my past cuz this verse is a looking glass
Silk till past the evil, inserve my people
Forever...
Hook
To this night a child is born
A lone star commin out of the sky to lead the wise men
Come again? Tell me the truth, I wanna listen,
A heavy burden I carry for my people to live
Verse 2
Losin my mind one piece at a time
Rewind events in my life and I find
The hardships outnumber the good times
Still I stand tall and hold my head high
Leave the scenes; maybe things get better
But know they never did it I'm back to wear I started
Smoking packs a day and acting like alcoholics
No money in my wallet and feelin really retarded Fuck the bullshit so I hit the school shit
Got the degree and made these other motherfuckers see I am who I am
I stand tall like God, worked hard, [erected to some?], my name is Cise Starr
You wanna talk about, then you wanna be me now?
Fell outta the sky and rose outa the ground?
A new man, new plan so Goddamn
I got fans, they float to Ja-pan
Hook
To this night a child is born
A lone star commin out of the sky to lead the wise men
Come again? Tell me the truth, I wanna listen,
A heavy burden I carry for my people to live
Verse 3
Momma died so i had to get my homework done
i couldn't sit around and be a bitch and not do shit
worked hard for everything that you see that i got you
motherfuckers gettin mad once you walking the block
when i'll be lovin my chop writing my rhymes
got a call from the king and we formed the group CYNE
