Roku Spectrum App won't let me watch certain channels sometimes. by AMobOfDucks in Roku

No. It was something like PGA Golf that began at 1 and wasn't scheduled to end until 6 or so. Other channels work, just a handful like that.

Luck isn't quantifiable. Rich, assuming we're talking money, is.

Bleacher seats at Wrigley are $109 each? by ninjablonde in baseball

The prices are what people will pay for them. The occasional "fan appreciation series" where most tickets are halved, just gotta put your name into a lottery, would be nice.

There were too many matches on the card and it ended way too late.

People have to commute, people have errands to run after work, people have dinner to figure out. It's about maximizing the audience. Most people have a 30+ minute commute home considering rush hour traffic. Most people don't have the luxury of sitting on the couch at 5:30 ready to watch the game.

And most people will watch the first 2 hours then make a determination based on how competitive the game is. That beats west coast missing the first hour then not caring to tune in as the score could be 35-15 early into the 2nd quarter.

NBA wants stars healthy. Maximum days off help with that.

West Coast is 55 million+ people. A 6pm start time allows them to get home in time to watch.

People are willing to stay up late and watch if the game is competitive. Everyone will be tuning in to the start of the game.

People may enjoy their field but unless they are in the absolutely perfect situation there are always better spots out there with better hours, easier commute, better bosses...

I currently don't have any school age children so I don't follow my local schools' curriculum closely.

Elimination of or rather much more transparency on things like this are highly encouraged by parents though.

  1. It's almost if like minor children aren't consenting adults (sans the occasional 17 year old entering the military early).

  2. The military is constantly improving training based on feedback from Soldiers and training studies.

Your analogy is pretty far off.

Your analogy is poor. Educators ate trained to educate. They are skilled at imparting knowledge. They're not necessarily qualified to decide what history is taught and/or emphasized in schools and what sex education is taught and when.

You are being intentionally silly and disingenuous.

PTAs and PTOs have existed in late 1800s to allow parents a venue to advocate for their children and implement changes and improvements to school life and the curriculum. School board meetings exist to allow the community an opportunity to speak out and provide feedback on schoo/educational happenings. I'm sorry you're trying to sneakily thresh things that parents abhor and they're not just sitting their and taking it.

Are you being sarcastic? Why shouldn't they have a say? It's their tax dollars and their child's well being at stake. The government shouldn't explicitly mandate the curriculum with a ton of bureaucracy limiting the public's ability to make a change.

Sadly it's something you have to be reactive towards instead of proactive.

Here's an example of something most parents wouldn't want taught to their kids or at least in the fashion it was taught.

Having a say in curriculum =/= having the trained skills to effectively impart knowledge onto 30 students at once.

I may not be a great chef but I can have a say that peanuts aren't involved in the cooking process.
