Brought up by the recent Weird Al buzz. I love Weird Al to death and frankly, the HOF are below him and every other musician they've inducted.
It is well known that the whole organisation is run by a few music industry execs and the selection process is done by measure of who will sell the most tickets for the event/dinner/show. Anyone who makes a mockery of this organisation should be applauded.
When the Steve Miller band were inducted, the HOF gave him 2 tickets and said if you want more, y'know like, for the band we're inducting, that'll be 10k per fucking ticket.
The whole thing is a money making exercise run by music execs who've made it clear that they don't want to share the selection process with the public and have no idea what people actually want. They will induct Imagine Dragons as soon as they've been around the arbitrary 25 years, because why? Money, guaranteed money.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame hasn't done enough to deserve Weird Al or frankly, any other musician on their walls.
