Reddit is looking for a Privacy Engineering Manager to work directly with business teams to ensure our products and services protect user privacy by design. Stakeholders include legal, security engineers, software engineers, and product leads in Advertisement and beyond.
Privacy Engineering provides consultative guidance across the scope of products, infrastructure and process, closely partnering with Reddit’s product and engineering teams to embed sound technical privacy practices in everything we build and help uncover risks before they become issues. Your work will enable other product and engineering teams to adopt privacy by design while preserving overall development velocity.
What You'll Do:
- Manage a team of Privacy Engineers
- Guide Product and Engineering teams during product development to ensure that their data collection and usage practices are transparent, protect user privacy, and mitigate risk.
- Build and maintain relationships with core partners and key leaders across Legal, Engineering, and Product teams.
- Play a critical role in Reddit’s product design process and launch cycle.
- Perform reviews of critical product designs and implementations to ensure privacy and security
- Develop roadmaps to drive strategy of the Privacy Engineering team
What We Can Expect From You:
- 3 or more years of experience leading a Privacy Engineering team at a large company
- Passion and experiences for consumer privacy, product development and data protection
- Knowledge of one or more scripting or compiled language including Python or JavaScript , and data technologies for high-performance data intensive cloud applications
- Strong collaboration, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to track and manage multiple projects, as well as thinking strategically
- Self-Motivated and ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
- Practical experience driving change across compliance and privacy within a tech or consulting firm
- Entrepreneurial mindset, with a proactive approach to risk mitigation
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
