As always, if you appreciate this work please consider adding your league to the 2022 State of IDP Survey and/or sharing the link elsewhere (we are up to 125 leagues represented this year and I will close the survey next month).
I feel guilty for posting these a day later than usual so I added some commentary below for each of the top 12 most rostered DTs on MFL to make up for it!
If you are curious what data I use to come to these rankings, my process (including recent updates) is available at https://www.professoridp.com/dt-lessons/methodology. How I've done (using a variety of metrics) is all here https://www.professoridp.com/dt-lessons/results-2022.
Ideal Tier is guys you would start in any format (and even consider in DL leagues that don't explicitly require DT).
Solid Tier is players are also expected to perform well and you can usually start to find some potential streamers in this group.
Solid (Deeper) Tier is mostly going to be relevant in 16 team leagues, leagues where you have to start 2 DT, or leagues with very deep benches.
Disclaimer 1: My model is performing well, but don't take these as gospel. Sometimes I even start a lower ranked guy who is more proven if the rest of my roster is in a place where I need to be risk averse.
Disclaimer 2: Check for guys who are out. There may even be 1-2 ranked guys on IR if they had enough snaps on the season and just went down. I'll catch some of these when doing data entry but not all.
With all of that out of the way, here are the top 3 tiers (internally sorted). For all 105 True Position DTs for Week 11 visit https://www.professoridp.com/dt-lessons!
TIER 1 - IDEAL
Chris Jones KC (Identical score to Donald but slightly better PFF grades place him at the top this week)
Aaron Donald LA (Not sure if I need much justification here)
Dexter Lawrence II NYG
Derrick Brown CAR
Cameron Heyward PIT (Elite PFF run defense grade and draws a favorable matchup against the Bengals IOL)
Leonard Williams NYG
DeForest Buckner IND (Good, not great, PFF pass rush grade and neutral matchup this week are the only limiting factors)
Grady Jarrett ATL
Jonathan Allen WAS (Elite pass rusher but tackle floor not as high as others with only 3 tackles over the last two weeks)
Javon Hargrave PHI (His last 3 weeks would have make him DT10 for all of 2022)
Quinnen Williams NYJ (If he played just a few more snaps, he would be about 6 spots higher)
Ta'Quon Graham ATL
Jeffery Simmons TEN (A sack at the end of the game bailed many of us out here!)
TIER 2 - SOLID
Daron Payne WAS (Payne is still a great play but Allen has pulled ahead in most metrics)
Dre'Mont Jones DEN (Rarely leaves the field and has major sack upside)
Kenny Clark GB
BJ Hill CIN
Bilal Nichols LV
Alim McNeill DET
Isaiah Buggs DET
Grover Stewart IND (Lower sack upside and 70% snap share is just below a tier for me, a few more snaps and he would have been 5 spots higher - see Disclaimer 1)
Harrison Phillips MIN
Ed Oliver BUF
Deatrich Wise Jr. NE
Matt Ioannidis CAR
Fletcher Cox PHI
Morgan Fox LAC
Sebastian Joseph-Day LAC
TIER 3 - SOLID (DEEPER LEAGUES)
Zach Allen ARZ
J.J. Watt ARZ
Justin Jones CHI
Larry Ogunjobi PIT
D.J. Jones DEN
Jarran Reed GB
A'Shawn Robinson LA
Calais Campbell BLT
Andrew Billings LV
Justin Madubuike BLT
