I also struggled with the juxtaposition of asserting that Shaw was largely doing what the author considered to be “training dives” while simultaneously pushing the limits at all times. Am I misunderstanding the term, or picking up on what you’re pointing out?

Regardless, I appreciate this author’s rendition of events, as well as the closing paragraph that acknowledges lots of these extreme diving icons die doing the thing for which they’re celebrated.
