I haven’t been able to find any reliable reviews for this bike either. It’s on sale at a LBS near me and I was looking at it.

Yeah, the staying off the trail part I get.

And the last thing I want is to worry about some douche riding my ass so I’ll definitely make sure to let speedier riders pass.

Well said. I appreciate the advice! Definitely going to make sure I’m skilled and confident enough before I approach a trail. Had a few minor crashes and mishaps with just urban riding so I’m definitely not ready yet. Lol.

The Marlin 5 or 6 is the only one I would consider. I have the red Axum DP and I’m loving it so far. If there were trek’s that came fully upgraded at a decent price I would jump on it. But the value of the Axum already comes with a tapered head tube and a DP. I do envy the Deore drivetrain and cassette that comes with the 6 though.

Thanks for the reccs. I think I will progress to urban trails but there’s next to no real trails or parks where I live so I think xc tires would be a good medium.

Yeah I’m not sure how used it is. Looks like it’s in decent condition. But like me, the owner is 250+lbs so any bike takes a beating when that’s the case.

That’s what I figured. I’d rather buy more tires than a research/buy a whole diff bike.

Yeah that’s my only qualm. I would wanna upgrade the DP eventually anyways. But the one on the DP model works pretty well for me so far.

Seems like those budget fork companies exist to trick people into wasting cash on disposable equipment. They are always the first ones to pop up when I search for entry level forks.

Sweet. I will be searching for a good deal on a fork before I take the Axum on anything more than a casual trail/city riding. Thanks for the feedback. I’ll definitely keep these things in mind when I’m looking around.
