Interview: told HR I would give my two weeks to my current job if given this new opportunity (explained because this job is more relevant to my degree). Does this sound bad? Or not necessarily? Would HR not like this answer? by politics_junkieball in recruiting

Nah. Provided that you are working, any job that expects you to start within two weeks would be a major red flag— unless they are incentivizing it with a starting bonus or something

“I gotta give some love to my catch- to their catcher…” Carlos Correa can’t quit the #Astros. by HtownSamson in Astros

[–]10teja15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We all love Carlos and the position he’s in (besides being filthy rich) is that he made a business decision that didn’t work out how he wanted

He didn’t get his long term contract. The twins aren’t as strong of contenders as he hoped. The entire market in general didn’t respond to him the way he expected—

a year later he’s kind of in the exact same position as he was before, except now, the door with the Astros has closed. He’ll be fine but we are looking at a man who has realized he gambled and lost (albeit, lost by gaining $34 million, but still)

More candidates negotiating their pay way over their initial salary expectation during the offering stage despite knowing the salary budget of the role. Is this a new trend of negotiation? by 123-907 in recruiting

[–]10teja15 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People always reserve the right to change their minds after learning more about a role. It may be a new thing to deal with culturally, but no one can be expected to want the same pay to do a low demand job versus a higher demand job

The way they go about that conversation is important though. They may be within their right to change their number, but if they don’t do it cordially or ethically, I personally would lose favor for that person very quickly.

Writer/director pay on indie feature? by jeff_tweedy in Screenwriting

All I got is to ask don't delete this post, lol. Mods really should pin this to the top of the sub. Personally I'd like to save it to reread once I'm in your position

Ravens are signing veteran WR DeSean Jackson by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

Jackson is known as a deep threat. He will draw coverage. This will in theory help Bateman

Deep threat. This should massively help Bateman

Is Brian Robinson going to be reliable? by Domegozcue in fantasyfootball

[–]10teja15 11 points12 points  (0 children)

People are forgetting that Robinson has just played only 2 games in his rookie year, and the first game was purposely limited because of his injury

Look at what all of the first year backs have done their first, second game playing. They’re all modest numbers

Robinson May not be crazy efficient but he will begin to acclimate to NFL level play. He will begin practicing with first string Linemen. Plays will be tweaked to robinsons running style/strengths.

For what it’s worth, the bears are also an above average run defense

Except for games where the Commanders get blown out, we should see Robinson improve to some degree

Who is everyone targeting in waivers this week? Feels less star studded but players like Kenyan Drake, Corey Davis, Tyquan Thorton, and Daniel Bellinger have some upside. by StackAttackNick in fantasyfootball

[–]10teja15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been holding Corey Davis since week 1. Seems to have a clear and obvious floor/ceiling ranging from 3-4 to 10-15 points in ppr.

In a 14 person league Everyone continues to undervalue him in that regard.

Recruiters: What are some good questions that made a candidate stand out positively? by lisabonettwin in recruiting

[–]10teja15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's always going to be things that are specific to an industry.

For example, I just filled a Media Buyer role. One candidate asked if the company's marketing style was "direct response oriented." -- That was an impressive question because D.R. is an old school term that coincidentally, is 100% what this company does. Plenty of candidates know what D.R. is when I ask them, but none had ever come out and asked themselves (an that guy got the job)

Another example could be when Accountants ask about revenue. That's particularly important for accounts receiveable folks as it is directly tied to the kind of workload they can expect from the job.

How often do mediocre BlckLst scores still result in a good movie being made? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]10teja15 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think I meant high scoring in that they were pretty high on the annual blacklist, but I understand you.

Did you know any movies that had been uploaded/produced? Just interested to look into them a bit to hopefully answer a few questions about how they got made

Haha. Power Project and 8-Bit Christmas were high-scoring BlckLst scripts. I'm not sure how "successful" those films technically were, but they had enough going for them that the writer's careers definitely improved tremendously

Everyone go check out the pinned comment in the Mariners sub. I didn’t comment or up/down vote anything but wow, that is next level “we will dish it but we can’t take it”

In this time it took me to read this, upvotes went from 601 to 596. So I guess Mariners fans are also glaringly petty
