Alright, here’s the final symbol version of what I’ve decided the Longsword Lesbian Flag. Hope ya like it!!

I just wanna be clear that my flag IS NOT and NEVER WILL BE for TERFs/radfems or anyone who calls themselves “longsword lesbians” AKA lesbian purists. Fuck y'all. I’m reclaiming the term and making it good.

Not to vent but I feel like a lot of people who gatekeep in the lgbtq+ community wanted to desperately be the person who threw the first brick. Like they have this radical lgbt activist hero protector fantasy in their head that they really want to be but because they don’t know how to actually go out and get involved they just complain about pansexuals online and make discourse blogs. That’s why you see a lot of them practically begging for pride to go back to being a riot with one of the reasons being to kick the “cishets”, (asexuals, pansexuals, MOGAI etc) out. Or they tell you “learn your history sweaty”, but then turn around and yell at people for saying queer. It’s just extremely strange seeing exclusionsts act like they’re the next Marsha while shitting out these freezing cold takes about the community. Just because you talk like a radical activist and reblog black and white pictures of older activists with quotes in italics doesn’t mean you are one.

The mythical figure of “the person who threw the first brick” is symptomatic of the larger issue of younger lgbtq (American) people not knowing jack shit about queer history. The kind of power fantasy OP identifies comes from people mythologizing and memeifying Stonewall as this glorious turning point where a small group of lgbtq people finally had the courage to fight back against the evils of oppression and it was the actions of those few brave heroes gave us rights. The first pride was a riot! Exciting! Dramatic! Easily digestible parable with clear saints and sinners! The unsexy truth – that the riot started at Stonewall was one of many such riots and violent confrontations; that it wasn’t the riot itself that “gave you your rights”, but queer activists (who hadn’t been at the initial riot) seizing the energy and interest it generated to push queer political visibility and a political agenda that they’d already been working on for years; that the process of gaining and securing lgbtq+ rights is a test of endurance, not passion, and by percentage involves way more paperwork than bricks; and that yes, cishet allies and collaborators have been there from the very beginning, and are in fact quite necessary for effective political movements. Part of learning about queer history is recognizing that the Great Men theory does not map onto actual lgbtq+ activism, and people casting themselves as the next Marsha is about as realistic as fantasizing about single-handedly stopping a bank robbery. It’s fun and it makes people feel good & powerful, but rooting ‘activism’ in what makes the participants feel heroic is, to put it mildly, 😬.

Nah let’s post it. Let’s feel it. Don’t look away.

I notice alot of my followers on here skipping these posts just to mess with my lgbt ones, suspiciously the white popular ones.

Heres a not so friendly reminder, as an lgbt metis person, i dont give a single fuck what your blog is themed or if this is too painful for you to look at. Reblog this post. Reblog this post with the sources of the 751 children who were found.

Your compliance and silence as well as the compliance and silence of your ancestors is what allowed these schools to open and kill first nations children. The children of MY people.

Dont follow me if you cant reblog this post or the one with sources to your political blog or your most popular blog. Add trigger warnings if you must but if your political blog is only focused on the harms you personally face like being lgbt then you need to see some bigger pictures and stop being afraid of angering your racist mutural or actually saying some shit about racism. If you can reblog some antifa graphics or add blm to your bio to be a surface level ally, you can reblog some sources on the genocide first nations people faced and still face today.

They were CHILDREN.

They were murdered in cold blood.
