This study appears to say that small-capacity lungs are associated with greater chance of cardiovascular disease though those chances vary rather greatly depending on where in the world those people live.
Please correct me if I'm wrong
The proportion of people with low lung capacity varies widely across world regions. However, the association between low lung capacity and greater odds of cardiovascular disease (and diabetes) is pretty much the same regardless of where one lives.
Is this not easily explained by obesity? Obesity reduces lung capacity and creates increased heart health risks....
The results of this study were corrected for body mass index to get rid of a potential effect due to obesity. In other words, the association between low lung capacity and cardiovascular disease seems to be independent of obesity.
