BLAMMO- Onomatopoeia - LP - STATE LAUGHTER RECORDS
 From the same label that brought us WARM RED's brilliant "Decades Of Breakfast" LP (restocks in!), comes this highly unique gem now! Short but sweet album of 10 songs by this trio from Atlanta/Georgia. And it can be called a labor of love. There's definitely a similar DaDa-Punk approach as bands like LiLiPUT or Y-PANTS had it, accompanied with a refreshing and stormy enthusiasm. Actually they share a love for the German/Swiss/Austrian spectrum of Punk/Post-Punk, even to the point with german vocals on one song ("Im Nebel").

 Great!!! Fourth edition of this cassette! Almost already sold out with the label again, but we got it! Awesome Post-Punk/Pop band from Philadelphia. Definitely picking up the sounds and styles of SWELL MAPS and WIRE, adding a twanging appeal to it, packing it into superfast and supercatchy distinctive songs, instantly reminding me of AIR MIAMI and FLIN FLON... or as someone else has put it: The BUZZCOCKS meet POLVO meet early PARQUET COURTS. THE WHIP was formed in 2002 by former KARP members Jared Warren and Scott Jernigan, along with Joe Preston, and existed only for about a year until the tragic death of Scott. Jared went on to form BIG BUSINESS then, and there's not much need to introduce Joe Preston...  This is a project of Andy Jordan aka Andy Human and Sam Lefebvre (PREENING, WARM SODA), and it's heavily inspired by the Dub of the legendary ON-U SOUND label. Due to the contributions of quite some guest musicians, including Amber Sermeno (THE WORLD, NAKED ROOMMATE) the whole record almost feels like a compilation. But then again, this is a good sign for an album that tries to combine modern Post-Punk with Dub vibrations, including lots of influences and references. Adrian Sherwood would surely like this. Limited edition of 500 copies.
