Paul Michael Hurst (born 25 September 1974) is an English former professional footballer and manager of Conference National side Grimsby Town.
As a player he was a defender from 1993 to 2008, notably playing his entire career for Rotherham United, bar a brief loan spell with Burton Albion in his final year as a player. After retiring from the playing side of the sport in 2008 he became joint manager of Ilkeston Town along with former team mate Rob Scott. The pair later took over Boston United before joining Grimsby in 2011.
Hurst figured regularly on the left side of the back four and in this position he performed well. He played over 430 games for Rotherham United.
He was in the team that were the champions of the Football League Trophy in April 1996, which resulted in a 2–1 win against Shrewsbury Town, at the Wembley Stadium.
On 6 March 2004 Hurst scored a consolation on 74 minutes in the 1–2 defeat at home to Bradford City, a chipped free-kick over the wall found Hurst to fire home. Hurst signed a new two-year contract in 2004 keeping him at Millmoor until the summer of 2006.
Paul Causey Hurst (October 15, 1888 – February 27, 1953) was an American film actor and director.
Born in Traver, California, and raised on a ranch, he appeared in hundreds of films during the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. However, he got his start painting scenery as part of the backstage crew during the silent movie era. By 1911, he was active in films as an actor, writer and director. He freelanced and worked for many of the movie studios, building a solid reputation for his work both on and off screen.
Hurst is best remembered for two roles: as the Yankee deserter who trespasses at Tara and is shot by Scarlett in Gone with the Wind (1939); and his memorable characterization of the drunken and sadistic vigilante Smith in The Ox Bow Incident (1943). However, he was most proud of his role as a crotchety, old rancher who refuses water to a Quaker family in the movie Angel and the Badman, until John Wayne's character convinces him to share the water. It was after this latter role that Republic Pictures signed him as the comic sidekick in Monte Hale's Western series.
