Western people (especially younger ones) don't realize how blatant racism is outside the West; they're shocked when they realize that anti-racism is not a major focal point of the 'cultural discourse' everywhere else, and that it's considered unimportant and irrelevant.

I literally thought they were describing the United States. Rampant racism, collapsing economy, corrupt government, intrusive government surveillance, terrible policing actions with no oversight or retribution for killing innocent civilians.

Alabama man tries to run over off duty police officer in his front yard by plutos123 in PublicFreakout

[–]Wonderlustish -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I was praying that this was an actually smart cop and he would go inside and stay inside to deescalate the situation and not run out to escalate.

And of course 15 seconds later he came out guns ablazing playing Mr. Tough guy thirsting for vengeance and justice.

If American cops knew how to deescalate situations half of the countries problems would be solved instantly.

Go inside and call for back up and arrest the suspect in a way that's safer for the cop, the suspect and the public.

This cop and the suspect will be lucky to be alive the way he decided to escalate the situation.

In fact I wouldn't be surprised if he escalated whatever the encounter was initially that ended with such aggression.

Denver Police shoots man 6 bystanders. The only shots fired were by DPD. by Coloradopeoplespress in PublicFreakout

I just came from a conservative firearm sub so downvote away but the feeling of outrage is equal over there. It’s insane that as a concealed carry holder that carries a gun I’m held to a higher standard than LAW ENFORCEMENT. I’d be in prison with my rights stripped away in a heartbeat if I did some stupid shit like that. The police literally just committed a mass shooting. But they’re gonna take my guns away. I don’t need them cuz they’ll protect me.

We’re all sick of this shit, especially responsible gun owners. What a fucking disgrace.

Man caught vandalizing Ash Cave State Park in Ohio turns to violence by Graysie-Redux in PublicFreakout

[–]valiga1119 9303 points9304 points  (0 children)

I work in the Ohio State Park System, at one of the biggest old growth forests in the country. The preserve is a monster, it’s badass, and yet all people can manage when they come in is carving their names in trees that are upwards of 300 years old. It’s absolutely maddening, don’t go into the outdoors if you can’t conduct yourself in a way that doesn’t ruin the memory of the space for others. I guarantee nobody else wants to see your initials carved in a tree or sandstone

Karen confronts a woman in the gym because “she laughed too loud” by onionrings07 in PublicFreakout

[–]Constantannihilation 366 points367 points  (0 children)

and to a lesser extent men

What the fuck are you even talking about. Men have made my gym experience worse 10/10 times, with or without a phone, and I’m a man too. Never once has it been a woman playing music directly off of their phone, or offering unsolicited advice, or grunting loudly, or throwing weights, or not wiping down, or hogging machines in a group of 6 with their chucklefuck buddies for 30 minutes at a time because they go one at a time and just stand around and wait for their turn. The women have to deal with the gawking and flirting on top of all that. So much so that women only gyms are a successful business model.

Dentist tells lady she needs to be a better mom, Public Freakout ensue by exek25 in PublicFreakout

[–]IFromDaFuture 1954 points1955 points  (0 children)

Being a bad parent and not brushing your children's teeth. I brush my sons at bathtime every night. He's almost 3. They're kids they don't know how to do that shit you gotta teach em fam.

Unprofessional to say at your job? Sure. But fuck man its getting hella tiresome to see so many people not take care of the bare fucking basics with their kids. That child had gingivitis at 2. Can you imagine the rest of her well-being?

This mom is the type of cunt to leave a dirty diaper on ALL DAY.

edit to add: I don't have a problem with her saying it, it's her job as a caregiver to be honest and protect the needs of the child, not the parent's feelings. I'm just saying some people may not appreciate that the same way I might and may find it unprofessional.

Edit2: somebody pointed out you're supposed to brush twice, this is correct. My wife handles morning routine lol

A lot of skateboarders like to do tricks where they’re not quite sure if they’ll stick the landing.

I suspect flying Spirit gives them that same rush of not knowing if the landing will succeed.

Call me overly empathetic but if I came across a large woman on a hike having a breakdown and panicking with no water, I can't imagine laughing and recording her. Her cardio is completely non-existent and she's carrying like 200+ more lbs. of weight, is likely dehydrated, and lost in a foreign country. I don't care how close to town we are, I'd probably call her an ambulance or park rescue. Whether she did it to herself and made extremely poor choices or not is irrelevant to me.
