Coaches, team doctors and game officials are all watching play and can all step in. But the league appointed spotter has the ability to buzz the referee, stop the game and mandate that player leave the game to be evaluated—no penalty or timeout charged to the team.

And the Head Coach and team doctors have nothing to do with this process, right?

Broken system. I was on the sideline very close to Brate-obvious he had his bell rung. There’s a league appointed spotter in the press box who should stop play & alert the referee. Brate shouldn’t have been allowed to return until after an evaluation. Why didn’t that happen???
Quote Tweet
Watching replay from last night, Cam Brate collided with Godwin, was down a second, got up, ran off on his own (though not fast enough to avoid a 12-men-on-field penalty). He came back in, even had a target, looked OK, later ruled to have a concussion.

I was wrong on a lot of counts last night but one shocker to me was the Chiefs out rushing the Bucs 189 yds -3 yds. I would have never dreamed that could happen. KC played very patient. The fact they had 17 3rd downs in the game showed that.

Boy was I wrong. I watched last week games and thought both the Chiefs and the Bucs offenses would struggle. But the offensive game plans were good and the Chiefs especially attacked in the proper way. Masterful planning by Eric Bieniemy and Andy Reid.

@TonyDungy thought the Chiefs/Bucs game was going to be low scoring 🤡

I heard a lot of things said on the field during my career. I’ve never heard of a fine. My guess is it stems from the Bucs-Saints altercation & the league is trying to put a stop to talk that could lead to fights. But if they had been fining for WORDS all those years- $millions😀
Quote Tweet
Good gracious alive… Chris Jones got fined 10k because of something he said to a QB??? I literally remember threatening and telling Joe Flacco and the ref I wanna punch him in the face with no flag or fine 😂 #FeelingsMatter😢

My routine is entirely different today as we are doing our portion of Football Night in America from Raymond James Stadium. No travel for me, but also no Sunday morning walk. But it does allow me to attend our daughter Jaela’s birthday party at Flying Squirrel before heading in😀

Our family is very thankful this morning that our area of North Tampa had very little damage from Hurricane Ian. So sad to see the devastation just miles south of us here in Florida. We’re praying for the recovery efforts and everyone still in the path of the storm. 🙏🏽🙏🏽

Cowboys with two really bad 3rd down play calls on the last two series. This game should be over if they just played smart. Not sure why they felt the need to throw???

Ravens are going to New England after their defensive collapse last week against Miami. What will Pats do to get after the Ravens D and will they be able to force Lamar into turnovers? I think the Ravens will take care of the ball and win the game.

In Tennessee this afternoon the Raiders and Titans are both looking for their first win. Which team bounces back and avoids going to 0-3? I like Tennessee to get going with Derrick Henry and get their first win.

I picked the Buffalo Bills to win a shootout in Miami today but they will be playing without their entire starting secondary and two key defensive linemen. They’ll need a huge performance by Josh Allen and the Offense against a very explosive Dolphins team.

Congratulations Lauren for a strong run in today’s Great Race in Pittsburgh. Her 10K run brought back some great memories of our time in the Steel City.

I started my walk today listening to but as I was walking I just felt the need to hear directly from God. I went to my audio Bible and listened to the books of James and Revelation. That encouraged me to think about what I could do to help other people today.

Warning to the rest of the Big 10: The University of Minnesota has a good football team. The Gophers improved to 4-0 with a dominant performance at Michigan State. Over 500 yds of offense in a 27 point win. We’re still flying under the radar but that’s OK #Ski-U-Mah

Our family is out at Ben T. Davis beach for the Salvation Army Run For Hope this morning. We have five who are running 1 Mile and two who are running 5K. It’s a great cause and we’re excited to support the SA!

The big game in the NFC is Packers –Bucs. This could have home field ramifications in the playoffs. Despite the presence of Brady and Rodgers it is expected to be a low scoring game which offense will be able to run and protect their QB? I’m taking the Bucs D in this one.

The marquee game this weekend is Buffalo at Miami. Two undefeated teams who are very explosive on offense. Buffalo looked like the most balanced team in the NFL Mon night but they have some injuries. Will they be able to contain Tua and his receivers? I like Buffalo in a shootout

Thank you for the information. This study looks at the economic impact having a baby had on the women who chose to participate in the study. And I see the point. We should definitely be working to rectify some of those issues. But there is more than just economics to consider.

I would love to know a little bit more about your stats. Who did this study? Where did they get their population? How many women were interviewed? What was their employment & economic status when pregnancy began?
Quote Tweet
When a woman is forced to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term, they're 4x more likely to end up in poverty and 60% less likely to stay employed full-time. Outlawing abortion perpetuates the cycle of poverty that disproportionately affects Black + Brown women & harms our economy.

I saw things like this in 1977 as a player, in 1997 as a coach & now as a broadcaster. It’s not unusual. Formations, alignments, mannerisms of players. There have always been play tipoffs. Some are obvious like this, some not so obvious-but absolutely high % if you study teams.

What a grave oversight. How could we not feature Earth, Wind and Fire on September 21? One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite groups. I’ll blame it on 😀
Quote Tweet
That moment when you realize you helped write a daily devotional and didn’t mention Earth, Wind & Fire on the Sept 21st entry. Then again, @tonydungy didn’t think to add Philip Bailey or Maurice White, et al, either! #uncommonchallenge

Matt Ryan is a great QB and he can still make plays. But he’s going to need help if the Colts are going to win. They have to get Jonathan Taylor going consistently so opposing pass rushers can’t tee off. There has been too much pressure on Ryan these first two games.

I was really impressed with Cooper Rush of the Cowboys today. He made a couple of bad throws but he played within himself and came up huge in the big moments. He’s going to keep the Cowboys competitive until Dak gets back.

Tampa Bay got a big win in New Orleans and they really did it with defense. While the offense struggled for two and a half quarters the D kept them in the game and came up with takeaways in the 4th Qtr. These are the type of games Todd Bowles expects to win.

Cleveland, Baltimore and Las Vegas all lost double digit leads late in the game today. We saw multiple comebacks last week. I’ve seen more unexplainable defensive breakdowns resulting in quick easy TDs when teams are way ahead late in the game. This should not happen in the NFL.

Nine teams who made the playoffs last year lost on opening weekend. Several are in danger of starting 0-2. SF, NE, Rams, Tenn, GB, Ariz, LV, Cinn, Dallas. Which of the 9 will bounce back and win this week? Which teams are you worried about?

For those who think I don’t understand the life cycle of trees I can assure you I do. My dad was a biology teacher😀. But you’re missing the point. God created the trees. He created us too. And with God, just like the trees can have bleak periods but come back strong, so can we!

As I was listening to the praise music on my walk this morning I got a reminder of how awesome God is. This tree looked completely different today than it did on my last walk 8 months ago. . God can restore us the same way!

Aaron Rodgers is 23-5 against the Bears but Chicago has a new coach and a new attitude this year. Tune into Football Night In America tomorrow at 7:00 pm EDT to get the inside scoop on the game and the rest of the Sunday action. Week 2 is going to be a fun one.

Two weeks in is very early to make predictions about your team’s season but last year 7 teams started 2-0 and 5 of them made the playoffs (71%). 7 teams started 0-2 and NONE made the playoffs. Who do you think goes to 2-0 this week and who goes to 0-2?

I have to disagree with my coworker Mike Florio on 7-10. I know they’re talented teams but we should rank them on what they actually did. Cin, GB, SF & Ten above Chargers & Vikings??? If those 4 bounce back and win this week I can see it. But do Week 1 games count at all?😀

To Von Miller and Micah Parsons: This is one time when being active on social media might backfire on you. I think every Off Coordinator in the NFL will be using RBs and TEs to chip on you now that they know it bothers you. Be on the lookout for chips until they change the rule.

Steelers and Ravens showed it won’t be a cakewalk this year for the Bengals. Injury to TJ Watt will be tough to overcome but Coach Tomlin will keep the Steelers fighting. Bengals didn’t run it as well as normal today but Lamar made big plays.
