I see a lot of folks confused about step one in the tags and to explain: what they're doing is just a color wash. Typically it's done with a color opposite on the color wheel to the primary color in a piece (though can be other tones for various reasons). It helps to make the final colors pop a lot more than they would if painted directly on a white canvas as the wash will show up in tiny spaces between the paint/in thinner areas and create contrast.

I haven't seen much about this, but police in vancouver killed a man who had been maced earlier in the night, he was trying to tear his clothing off because it was burning him and he was trying to find milk to pour in his eyes when they saw him acting crazy (blind and in agony) shot him 6 times? I don't want this kind of thing to keep happening here. We are not that different from America, we just keep telling ourselves that we are

Advocates in the Downtown Eastside have a very different version of what happened this morning.

The Vancouver Area Network of Drug Users (VANDU) claim that the man at the centre of this incident was “executed.”

“He was naked, bear-maced and screaming for help,” reads a tweet from VANDU.

“He was pouring milk on himself as VPD arrived on site and immediately shot him in the back 6 times with a beanbag gun. He was unarmed. He is now dead.”

Also important to note: Chris Amyotte was Ojibwa.

Indigenous people are 10x more likely to be shot and killed by police in Canada.

reminder that a ‘bean bag gun’ is a very innocent way of saying 'a gun that shoots packets of lead shot’.

it is recommended that such weapons should be aimed at arms and legs only, as they can cause: internal bleeding with an abdomen hit, broken ribs with a torso hit, heart arrhythmia w a sternum hit, and skull trauma with a head hit.

The manufacturer’s instructions say they should only be aimed at limbs. The cops are not using them for their intended purpose and then they’re trying to claim “Yeah but they’re non-lethal”.

SO ARE CHAINSAWS WHEN YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS

Thought process of announcers: why don’t we get another ball…?

OR MayBE WE SHOULD GET A CHEERLEADER! THEY’RE USED TO GOING UP HIGH

OH LOOK, THE CHEERLEADER HAS DONE IT

I read a TERF say something like “You all understand how mentally and emotionally draining being a radfem is”, like good! I hope being a bigot makes your life worse! I hope being a bigot rots you from the inside out just like your fucking transphobia does us. I hope you suffer mentally like how we do in an unsupportive society that you helped to build up. I hope you get fired and lose everything over your bigotry. I hope you rot.

To be clear- Cinderpelt finding a new sense of purpose and direction as a medicine cat OF HER OWN FREE WILL after suffering a life-changing injury is not ableism. Firestar constantly feeling sorry for her when she's clearly happy and lamenting the fact that she never got to be a Warrior every time she so much as crosses his line of sight is ableism.

Briarlight being physically unable to preform traditional Warrior duties and finding other things that she can do around camp that make her feel good about herself as a contributing member of her community is not ableism (though they really should've explored it more). Millie explicitly saying that Jayfeather keeping her daughter alive is only prolonging her suffering and that she will always have an "incomplete" life is ableism.

Longtail choosing to retire to the elders den early because he feels unable to comfortably preform his Warrior duties after the loss of his sight is not ableism. Jayfeather being told his blindness means he has no other choice but to become a medicine cat and then being bullied into it by the adults in his life and even his ancestors, despite the fact that he states again and again that he wants to be a Warrior, is ableism.

Disabled characters existing, and not being able to do all of the things that fully abled characters can do is not the problem, and rewriting them to be able to do everything able bodied warriors can is not the solution. The problem is denying disabled characters agency, refusing to accept that they can find happiness and fulfillment in non-traditional roles in Clan life, and treating their lives as though they are somehow diminished by their disabilities.

Your job is not your family y'all 😅🌈

before i had gotten close with ex-catholics i was under the assumption that "catholic guilt" was mostly about sex, or serious topics.

but i was naïve. it's apparently about every positive experience. enjoying a meal? you're so lucky, children are starving. spending your day off cosy in bed? wow, so selfish, homeless people are freezing to death.

every former or present catholic i've met has a very obvious anxiety disorder and it's so painfully not a coincidence.

If your cat is curious abt what you're eating always let em have a lil whiff. 9/10 times they don't even wanna eat it they just wanted to know what it was. it's cute
