Frank Zappa - All You Need Is Glove {Tour '84}

Frank Zappa - All You Need Is Glove
Saratoga Performing Arts Centre, New York
September 1,1984
Palace Theater, Hollywood, July 1984
New York and Santa Monica 1981 bonus tracks
Soundboard @flac
Sound quality: All soundboard, but some kind of tinny,
and with way too much Alan Zavod in the mix
Length: ~80 min

Musicians: Frank Zappa, Chad Wackerman, Scott Thunes, Ike Willis, Ray White, Bobby Martin and Alan Zavod - and Napoleon Murphy Brock on the Hollywood tracks, and special guests Johnny "Guitar" Watson and George Duke on "In France"

1. In France
2. Truck-Driver Divorce
3. Cocaine Decisions
4. Sharleena
5. Carolina Hard-Core Ecstasy
6. Advance Romance
7. Lucille Has Messed My Mind Up
8. Teenage Wind
9. He's So Gay
10. Keep It Greasy
11. Honey, Don't You Want a Man Like Me?
12. Oh No
13. More Trouble Every Day
14. Penguin in Bondage

Track 1 is live at the Palace Theater, Hollywood, 22-Jul-1984, with Johnny "Guitar" Watson and George Duke - a soundboard A+ recording. Apocrypha has a version of the same performance, but from a different source tape, and it sounds miserable. It also has a minute or so of "banter" before the song starts.
Track two may be live at Saratoga on September 1 (see Kreega Bondola and Big Mother Is Watching You).
Tracks 12-13 are live at the Palace Theater, Hollywood, 21-Jul-1984. Tracks 12-13 are the same as on Live in Hollywood.
Track 14 is an unknown 1984 live.
Tracks 3-11 (and maybe 2) are live at Saratoga on September 1 (see Kreega Bondola and Big Mother Is Watching You).

Throwing Muses is an alternative rock band formed in 1981 in Newport, Rhode Island, that toured and recorded extensively until 1997, when its members began concentrating more on other projects. Throwing Muses are known for performing music with shifting tempos, creative chord progressions, unorthodox song structures, and surreal lyrics.

Howling For Hubert
Various Artists` Tribute To Hubert Sumlin
February 24, 2012
Apollo Theater, NY
Excellent Audience Recording@ 224

A great pleasure to the Voodoo Wagon!

A very good friend of the blog sent us the link of this special meeting of Blues aficionados last night. Too bad we don`t have him here on the Wagon as a contributor anymore. Many thanks again for the show!

Eric Clapton, Jimmy Vaughan, Eddy Shaw, Elvis Costello, Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks, Billy Gibbons, Keb Mo,Warren Haynes, Keith Richard, Buddy Guy...they all played at this show in New York City. And it seems they all had a lot of fun!
Not to forget the responding audience too...

A Big Thanks to the producers of this boot! I mean the show is about 10 days young and we have a perfect recording including perfect front and back covers.
This is something only bootleggers can do. Salute!

Patrick Doyle reported in rollingstone.com:
Close to midnight last night at New York’s Apollo Theater, Eric Clapton had just finished a thunderous take on classic blues number “Forty Four” when Keith Richards ambled onstage with no introduction. Wearing a dark blazer, long green scarf, fedora and a huge grin, he embraced Clapton and stood center stage to massive applause, delivering a smoky take on Howlin’ Wolf’s “Going Down Slow,” a chronicle of a frail man who has savored life’s greatest pleasures. “Man, I’ve had things that kings and queens will never have,” Richards growled. “In fact, they don’t even know about them, let alone get ’em. And good times? Mmmm…” He hovered around Clapton and then stood sidestage by the piano while Clapton delivered a throaty verse and then weaved clean-toned solos with young Austin guitarist Gary Clark Jr… It was Richards’ first major musical appearance since the Rolling Stones last toured five years ago, and he showed little rust.

The Paul Butterfield Blues Band - Fillmore Auditorium 1966 {Back From The Dead}

The Paul Butterfield Blues Band - Fillmore Auditorium
San Francisco, CA.
October 14, 1966

Soundboard Recording @320

In 1966 the chops of The Butterfield Blues Band made all of the suburban kids blues-revival bands sound pretty bad. Here the band play a live version of the title tune from their second LP, and they’re in full modal jazz-rock fusion land, as Butterfield, Mike Bloomfield, and Elvin Bishop solo.

Set List
1-Shake Your Money Maker
2-The Sky Is Crying
3-Oh, Pretty Woman
4-Help Me
5-Never Say No
6-You're So Fine
7-East West (fades out)

Bonus
1. East-West, Live Version #1 (Hollywood, CA. Winter 1966)
2. East-West, Live Version #2 (Chicago,IL. Spring 1966)
3. East-West, Live Version #3 (Huntington Beach, CA. Winter 1967)

Lene Lovich / The Malibu, Lido Beach, NY 1983 BBC College Concert #32

Lene Lovich
BBC College College Concert #32
The Malibu, Lido Beach, NY
Syndicated Broadcast Date of  May  1, 1983

Most likely recorded in late March/early April of 1983, as Lovich played Cedar Brook NJ on 3/25/83 and Trenton NJ on 3/26/83

There's another Lovich/Malibu 1983 show circulating with a slightly different set list.
As Pete Larkin's introduction mentions that this show was "recorded in concert by WLIR-FM" it's likely a WLIR broadcast is the source, and had additional songs.  The other show starts with "Savages," doesn't have "Bird Song", "Too Tender To Touch" or "Special Star," and adds "Home" as the last song.

This other show is dated as from March 21, 1983, which may be the date of this show. I don't have a copy so I can't compare it to confirm if that is true.  Anyone out there got a copy for a comparison?  If so, please leave a comment.

Flac files of wavs, plus 300 dpi scans of the cue sheet and a disc label.  As usual, I went through this very carefully in Audacity and removed clicks and pops.

01.  BBC College Concert # 32 Intro - Pete Larkin
02.  Sister Video
03.  Joan
04.  It's You, Only You (Mein Schmerz)
