I’m wondering if anyone has any recommendations for books written by male authors.
I don’t want this to come off as exclusionary, but I work in an environment with junior high students who love reading. I’ve had a few kiddos ask for books written by male authors.
I’ve had a hard time finding some who write in the YA space. I’ve seen a lot of middle grade books, and tons of adult books specifically written by male authors. Would anyone be able to recommend me some authors/books/series by male authors that I could share with these kiddos? They are 12 y/o+
Again, it’s not my intention to be exclusionary, especially after the whole James Patterson debacle. I’m only using the JP thing as an example, and am also interested in books by men that are a part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, as well as part of the ** BIPOC community. I’m just trying to help out some kiddos that are asking for help to continue their reading journey.
** I believe BIPOC is still the acronym used to refer to Black, Indigenous or Person of Colour. If this term is no longer used, please feel free to correct me as I want to be as respectful as possible.
Thank you all in advance. 😊
I’m 100% tired of fae, elemental powers, demon hunters, urban fantasy and the standard medieval Celtic world building.
I’m looking for some dark high fantasy with awesome magic systems and very high stakes, where I can actually worry some of my favorite characters are going to die. And it’s about 80% plot, 20% romance.
Think Mirror Visitor mainly and Daevabad, superb worldbuilding.
Stuff I absolutely hate:
ADSOM (what a let down, pretentious af and the most unimaginative plot ever).
ACOTAR (everything in between sex scenes is just build up to said sex scenes, plot what plot?).
The Cruel Prince (the political stuff seemed written by a 10 year old, who cares about a 17 y/o?).
Hello bookworms! This is Self-Promotion Sunday, a place where you can promote any of the following:
A book you wrote
Your blog
Your Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, etc
Your Discord channel
a subreddit you created
your Etsy shop
As a rule, individual self-promotion posts are not allowed on this subreddit, but a weekly post will now be scheduled so you can promote your projects to other bookworms.
Looking for some good YA or New Adult recommendations for books where they break up and it hurts so good (they can get back together or not). Idk why but I just love feeling the HURT..??? Anyways 👀 I haven’t found any books recently that make my chest hurt. I like Fantasy, Rom Coms, recently dabbled in Sci Fi Romance and enjoyed it so I’m open to anything! Thanks!
