I really don't get it. To me, it's mediocre, bad singing/rapping, uninteresting, nonsensical/misogynist texts.. I can only see an interest in the production value of what 'they' do, but I don't even think that those people make their own beats.

Edit: I've read all the answers so far, and thank you all. A few things I have to add:

This post is by no means derogatory to the people who enjoy their music. It doesn't come either from a perspective of ' i have such great tastes, this is peasant music'

The rap/hip-hop world is a little bit out of my grasp, hence why often, I just cannot rely to it. That's why I have the point of view of an external observer, who is curious to understand the how's and the why's.

That being said, I do enjoy a lot of rap artists, modern or old. Tyler the Creator is one, Asap Rocky is another...

I'm not looking for particularly deep or meaningful or skillfully musicianship when I'm listening to music. I enjoy a lot of un-serious artists as well

I was just curious, because those modern rap artists are like super-popular, revered by millions. And I feel alienated from that. So I'm interested in understanding the narrative behind it: what do those people stand for? Why did they become famous in the first place? What do they represent for people who actually enjoy them beyond the hedonistic and fun aspect? When I'm talking about the artists I really like, I can get really passionate about it and talk about music for hours, beyond the 'to each their own'

Went to a concert last night and the ticket said 9pm doors/show and he didn’t come on until 1:30am. To make matters worse he reposted a picture of him backstage around 12am. We left and didn’t see the show. I can’t listen to his music this same.

EDIT: my ticket said show/doors 9pm but the ticket website event details says: doors 9pm show 12am. Idk if they added that recently or why it’s not on the ticket, so idk who to be upset w now lol

I started listening to them about a year ago now, and they are one of those bands where once you start listening you find yourself going back to them every single day. their music is so full, there is always something going on, and the guitar never ceases to impress me, I recommend listening to: anyhow, midnight in harlem, and when will i begin :) ENJOY
