For context, Priceline and Hotwire have rooms that are offered at steep discounts with the caveat that the name of the hotel is hidden. This can be HUGE when you can score deals like five star resorts at a fraction of the cost, but sometimes you are stuck with crappy hotels that aren't worth it even at the discounted rate.
You can sleuth the different amenities and description of the hidden hotel on Google to try and guess the name, but there is also a chrome extension that automatically predicts with very high accuracy the name of the hotel (creds to u/CurrentPangolin for creating it).
Found the name of a priceline express deal on my trip to SF and scored a sweet five star resort for my stay. I was deciding between two "hidden name" five star hotels and if I didn't find out the name beforehand, would've picked the crummy one.
I (23f) don't understand why I struggle so much to make connections in real life, and at this point it gets to me because I'm feeling super lonely. To describe myself, based on other people's view, I'm nice, kind, good looking, and I can keep a conversation; yet I can't even manage to find friends in real life.
Where do you guys meet new people all by yourself? I really wish I had that friend I could talk to about life and do activities together. I know there's places like charities, sports club, gaming, and so on, but I would like to learn about other not so common places where it's possible to interact with strangers. I've tried going to cafeterias and bars, but it feels weird to even be there, like what am I supposed to do there all alone?
Whenever I take walks around the city it's a bit depressing seeing girls with their friends, and even their boyfriends being so happy and jolly. How am I supposed to even find the love of my life if I struggle so much when it comes to meeting new people, damn, I'll have to attend some human interaction courses.
Anyways, enough ranting on my side. I would really appreciate some of your tips and tricks, cuties. Also, where would you go have fun on your own? And also what podcasts do you usually listen to?
Manufacturers pay a premium to list on Amazon. They can often give you a steeper discount when you buy directly from them. I just bought 3 air purifiers from the manufacturer's site. They gave me 10% off and did not charge me sales tax. Saved me over $100 than if I purchased it from Amazon.
Obviously this doesn't work every time, but it's worth a shot to check out the manufacturer's website anyway to verify the product's specs.
Cats are NOTORIOUS for sleeping in small, warm spaces. Many people have killed their cats on accident by not checking the dryer.
It’s hard to remember to do, though.
If yours is side-loading, tape a piece of cloth on the top, so it hangs in the door (so it gets caught in the door if you shut it.) You will have to move it which prompts you to look in.
Look out for your furry friends, guys!
Asking for more time than you initially thought you needed sets the expectation for all parties involved. In my experience, everytime I follow this method, I've finished with 1-2 minutes to spare.
The time you'll need varies, so use your best judgement but this applies to so many things in life:
Running late and the GPS says you'll be there by 12:17 - call/text ahead and say you'll be there for 12:30. You can never fully anticipate construction delays or collisions.
Spouse/SO and you don't want to share your one washroom in the morning and they ask how long you need to shave/style your hair - say you need 15 if you need 10. Those last minute beard/moustache trims can get precise.
Met with a client on Monday and they expect a proposal - say you'll get back with a tailored document for a review together on Friday at (the time that works best for you).
The benefit: You'll always win since you're done within the requested time. You also don't frustrate the other people since you're not going back to them to ask for more time.
You can then cancel and re-book the lower rate, or call a customer service line to do that. I have saved hundreds of dollars by doing this, and the customer service agent even waived any cancellation fees!
