Asia Takeaway – David Beale on China’s inclusion in the Bloomberg Barclays Aggregate Bond Index
Deutsche Bank’s Co-Head of Institutional Client Group David Beale discusses the inclusion of China's USD 12 trillion Renminbi bond market in the Bloomberg Barclays Global Aggregate Bond index in this Asia Takeaway.
“China will gradually reach just over 6% of the index and will be the fourth largest currency component behind the US dollar, Euro and Japanese Yen,” said Beale.

Didgeridoo Variable Pitch Exercises Embouchure David Beale
Didgeridoo exercise to practise continuous tuning, for resonating quickly with another instrument; 12-tone pitch changes; a major scale more than one octave; avoiding bugle-like accidental arpeggios... Difficult.
The nominal lowest fundamental key is low A but it can go lower.
Recorded mono by a Canon G11.

Didgeridoo Resonant Variable Pitch Embouchure Exercise David Beale
Variable pitch by resonance is difficult. Varying lip-vibration frequency happens here but lip-vibration isn't making the sounds (lips shape the resonant cavity; if they vibrate more than optimum they get damaged just like the vocal chords re singing). Hitting notes in the didge is like a bugle. Added is using the lips and mouth cavity as vocal chords and replacing many nose-chest-mouth resonant cavities with the resonance in the mouth and the didge; like a bird or person singing sounds of different frequencies unrelated to the lengths of body pipes.
The video shows me learning. I believe didgeridoos can finely tune to resonances with the land; of all other visible and invisible life; rather than play in only one key. In these videos I'm trying to show the possibilities of this technique,...

Didgeridoo Variable Pitch Method David Beale Experimental Embouchure
Play the didgeridoo with variable pitch by resonating the same as a voice rather than as a fixed-length pipe.
The didgeridoo in this clip has variable length for setting the note for conventional didge methods; but the non-stop clip shows variations in pitch without changing the length of the didge.

Didgeridoo Resonance Octave Range Embouchure David Beale
Didgeridoos and all musical instruments resonate for healing and happiness energies.
Use this track for anything you may want to do; cut bits from it...whatever.
This video is extemporary. It shows tone and frequency changes, with a fixed-length didge. The intentions of blessing and enlivening are showing in the sounds; as my control is getting more automatic.
I'm promoting this technique and showing my progress rather than imagining I can wait until "perfect" enough; to help others to keep trying, and to get over stage-fright.
You may like to play this loud with plenty of bass.
It's recorded by a Panasonic nv-gs300 720x576 16bit 48Kbps AAC video recorder 25fps PAL circa 2005, energy-saver fluoro lights, dim; at home in Kalamunda Western Australia 21st May 2014.

A didge, played these ways, naturally resonates with any nearby synergistic sounds; so when ready, one may jam in harmony.

The didge is by Dr Didge Dolphin who is presently producing more such magnificent variable-length instruments with seriously joyous character, sound quality and life energy.
The benefits of variable length are to set the optimum resonance as close as possible to other instruments; for greater ease fitting in perfectly; and for producing beat-frequencies by minute changes of pitch. I set the length long because I like the rumble to be deep.
When other instruments are playing, the variable-length method of key setting causes the didge to more easily naturally synchronise with other instruments. The variable length makes such synchrony easier for the player to change notes according to natural mathematical intervals.
Any scale system is possible with a didge; including mathematically imperfect in-between tones as well as accurate mathematical intervals (as for a bugle/trumpet-without-valve-changes).
Mutual resonance --- Harmony --- is enhanced by artistically and technically brilliant instruments.
The so-called "circular breathing" is by refreshing mouth air while breathing in and out enough not to suffocate, and gently pushing the air through the teeth (often closed) using the jaw, cheeks and tongue. When the air in the mouth needs to be replaced, the resonance has to be maintained (that takes Practice!!) so the note and tone can stay the same while the air, for a little while, comes from the lungs rather than just from the mouth. Refreshing air in the mouth cavity has to be done as an exhale (obviously) however normal breathing is better than taking only tiny quick intakes and holding the breath. In these videos, I often do both ordinary breathing but often have to breath as if for singing where exhaling takes longer than inhaling. The resonance is set up in the didge tube itself with help from the lips; very much like getting a wine-glass to sound very loud by gently brushing one's finger on it; like a Tibetan Singing Bowl.
