Graduated. University error. They took back my degree. by KnitNotPurlin TwoXChromosomes

[–]KnitNotPurl[S] 6 points7 points ago

Thank you. It does make me feel good that an Internet stranger is proud of me.

I went to a school that has recently gone through some changes (moving from women only to co-ed for example) and with all the confusion some of us have gotten screwed. Graduation requirements have changed and if I didn't have a copy of the original requirements when I enrolled I'm not sure anyone would know what I needed to graduate.

Tell your friend good luck.

I'm glad to see someone else has gotten through a similar experience. Most of the time you're required to take Eng 101 before even being allowed in higher level classes.

I'm still working with the registrar to figure out my options but I've looked up contact info for the Dean just in case. The education department has a new head and he's not really settled yet. It would be nice to be able to go to the acting head of the edu department but, sadly, she's my advisor.

My DB experience by iluvweinersin weddingplanning

I've had a mixed experience with them. The first time I went the consultant was horrible: the underclothes she brought me didn't fit and she didn't bother to go find some that did, she didn't listen to me when I told her I don't like certain styles (I tried some on anyway), and she didn't stay within my budget. I found my dress the first trip but didn't buy it. The second time I went my consultant was wonderful. She made sure I had clothes that fit (she even found my dress in a side that fit-the first said they didn't have it in my size), put a veil on me (which I ended up loving), and was all around helpful and kind. I bought the dress I wanted and was more comfortable spending the money after having someone helpful sell it to me.

I was worried about bringing my wheel home too, but it's not as delicate as I thought it was.

I'm not at home with my wheel for a few days but I promise I'll answer your questions when I get home.

Edit: I misread the question. I wouldn't sell it to you, but only because it doesn't spin with the wheel so warped and is missing the flyer as well. If you'd like to pay for transport (I'm in the US) you may have it, but it's going to take a good amount of money to replace the missing/broken antique parts. It would probably be cheaper to buy a whole new wheel.

I have a wheel almost identical to this with a warped wheel (bad enough that it won't spin). If you need any spare parts lets me know and we'll see if they fit yours.

Sadly I probably won't get to see it all knitted up. It's a gift for a coworker on my last day.

Thanks! It's destined to be a gift to a scarf knitter so the colors will be on debut.

The pattern is Mitt Envy (which I've knit before and everyone always loves).

The yarn is Koigu.

I only have the thumb left! Mitts!

I love love love this pattern! They're fast and easy but still interesting enough to keep my attention.

Is there something about yourself that you're tired of explaining to people? by kelizascopein AskReddit

I have a friend who brought wine to a dinner party I had thrown. It was very nice of him since my fiancé and I don't drink and can't provide many alcoholic options, but he was insistent I try it.

"Here, this is for you." "No, thank you" "Are you sure?" "Yes" "Just try it and if you don't like it your fiancé can have the rest." "No. I don't drink and he doesn't either."

I have a question relating to this (and don't know all the details about this so please forgive any ignorance in this issue).

Our plan is to have a friend marry us who is already ordained through a program like this. When we asked him he explained that he can marry us but at any time the state could change its mind about the legality of our marriage license (he had technical terms but I believe that's the idea). So my question is; what happens if he marries us and that happens? Do we have to get remarried or is it just forms and hassle to confirm that we're going to stay married?

I'm just a little lost as to what I should even search for more information on the issue.

On my first day of student teaching (yesterday) I was with a sub who lost control of the class. When they started to get wild (and it was clear the sub didn't know what to do) I took over and got the kids back on track and within reasonable volume levels. From then on it was MY presence in the room that kept that class well behaved. It's the first time since I've started visiting classrooms that I've really felt like a teacher.
