How to force upgrade a Chromebook from OS 76 to >90? by Light_A_Match in chromeos

ChromeOS Flex can get you to 102 I think. No play store though.

has google been waiting for 12th gen U series to launch pixelbook 2 by partev in chromeos

Running a MediaTek P60T on my lenovo duet and I say it's perfectly fine for what the device is meant for, and priced at. X86 chips, especially a newer Core I series will blow it out of the water easily, but the battery life would be abysmal with similar form factor.

Google Tensor chromebook I think would be great, and the ChromeOS team could do like Apple has always been doing, extremely high optimization with their chipset.

Sucks yall have to deal with that in your cities.

The "1% MC" here are fine. Don't follow them, and just go pass em never had issues. The VA guys are more dicks here. I've seen em take both lanes and ride the limit not let anyone pass for some reason.

In "contested" territory I'm sure the MCs are much more aggressive than what I'm used too, just a bunch of dicks

Do you have anything on your keys (keychains)? by Even_Aside6041 in motorcycles

[–]StarsandMaple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bike key, office key, cloth Remove Before Flight key tag.

The office key does wobble around and shit but bikes kind of a POS so eh.

The tag I've had for 10years and it's always been on the "fun" vehicle. I Hate having tons of keys but my car keys look like a janitor ring... Damm work.

Looking into some sort of key thing that I can pull keys out as needed and shove it back in my bag.

Is the tow package only the hitch and wiring for a 2021 highlander xle awd? by ANITW in ToyotaHighlander

[–]StarsandMaple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem, the newer models look to be very similar frame and unibody. I'm willing to best it's nearly the same parts required. Unsure how 21 is, but I'd recommend putting the car in "powermode" and if you're pushing the car (3000lbs+) I'd recommend manually shifting it in the city, and getting to posted speed limit. The shift pattern isn't really made for towing and you'll end up lugging the engine unnecessarily. I tow a 3200lbs camper occasionally with mine, and tow various pieces of equipment for work (ATV, Side by Side, diesel compressor) and I've had no issues. Use an obd2 scanner and check transmission Temps and never had any issues. I'm in FL so, hills don't exist.

[–]StarsandMaple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tow package on the 19 is just a hitch and wiring... I think maybe a Trans cooler? But it's most likely abysmal to a true cooler (bar fin style)

The wiring on the 19 is there you can buy an adapter and run it through the grommet the factory uses. The hitch from Toyota requires I think the lower bumper valence from a tow package vehicle.. curt makes one that fits well regardless.

Wait, there's a subscription fee for their map service... 🤣😂. Who's gonna pay for that crappy map! by NYCB1RDY in ToyotaHighlander

[–]StarsandMaple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 19 has navigation.

After using it twice just to see I gave up on frustration. I travel for work and lots of areas I go to do not have addresses, but are intersections. It's useless. Slow. Annoying. Navigation in any car is already worse and outdated by the time it comes out compared to Gmaps or Apple Maps

Old shity bike. Won't idle.

Sort of a reflex from years of driving modified and carbed vehicles. Plus I like the sound. Granted I don't hit the limiter...

PSA: Mesh jackets barely protect you in a slide, or why body armor might not be the worst idea in summer. by Uptons_BJs in motorcycles

[–]StarsandMaple 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah I went down with a full textile jacket. 35mph low side slid most of the way. 0 damage to the jacket, jeans yeah, tore up..

Jacket was like 90$ at a flea market, just has pads in it no rating as far as I can tell.

The asphalt aggregate plays a huge part. A smooth asphalt and concrete, will definitely tear up a lot less than an older coarse asphalt. We have some roads here that look like gravel with tar on top...

The chest and back armor to me seems more for the stunt guys falling off the back of a bike than anything. Body will instinctual try and break your fall with your arms.

What's your opinion on body armor? by cestrrl in motorcycles

[–]StarsandMaple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NE FL. I wear a mesh jacket with bad, shoulder, and elbow impact protectors. Jeans, which I know I should get Kevlar pants, and my work boots.

It sucks, it's hot, but I'm more likely having to deal with my bike overheating in traffic than, me personally dealing with heat stroke. Granted I used to work solely outside, in the woods and swamp.

Am I miserable in grid lock traffic? Ya.

Do I try and ride when it's dawn, or dusk? Oh hell ya.

Fleet management unit most likely. A shitty one only grabbing power and ground.

Could've been a GPS from wherever someone had bought it originally. I've heard of dealers sneaking those on, especially if financing is through them not a bank.

Replacing the bumper on my '03 - Still sags on the sides like this even after getting it all mounted. Any suggestions? by Joblacksmith in GMT800

[–]StarsandMaple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used a jack and wood... loosened the brackets a tiny bit and pushed it up.

Be careful you xan bend the bumper lol. I don't think I've seen a GMT800 without sag on one side...

If there's no Chromebook that meets my needs, is a PC running Chrome OS Flex (once stable) a good substitute? by undermydeathbed in chromeos

[–]StarsandMaple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Android apps to me is what makes ChromeOS more than just a Web browser installed on a computer.

It's what Apple should make the iPad but won't. ChromeOS fills that gap IMO

I didn't check them I just did a quick search to see if it was available, I apologize.

Remote play will be your best option if it is one. Sadly Play Store doesn't get the same vigorous testing and checking that Apple App Store does.

Civ6 is on Play Store. If you have a chromebook with play store it should run it fine. Maybe a little low frames depending on the specs.

Use Web O365.

At work I primarily use Web Outlook and OneDrive on web. It's easier I find. The web outlook is less glitchy, and interface much easier to use IMHO.

Web Word is a bit odd, takes some getting used too, maybe there's some settings here and there to make it better but it can be odd to use, plus I've only ever use desktop Word my whole life.

99% of people using computers for work, as long as it isn't a windows app, or Adobe Acrobat DC, use web apps got most of their jobs...

Looking to Purchase a Chromebook, after installing Flex on my old Laptop by StarsandMaple in chromeos

[–]StarsandMaple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SSH client for my personal server stuff is all I'd really need. Maybe an app for some light coding. And my guilty pleasure of old-school RuneScape which has an Android app but yet to see anyone use it on a Chromebook, everyone just uses the Linux environment to download a third party client to play.

Yeah, I'm sort of leaning towards an arm based one.

Any issues with any apps? I know Linux is weird due to having to use arm based apps but again I have other devices for Linux..

I think that was their intended purpose for a gooseneck, 1 to 2 slot horse trailer.

I've seen S10s with smaller 5th wheels, and I can see them being able to tow, a 4.3 isn't that bad on power for what it is.

Especially for a smaller farm makes sense to just taxi trailers around in a cheap, beat up mid size truck over a guzzling gas 1ton or diesel.

The only problem is when people think truck = tow anything, and you've got a dumbass pulling a 30ft 5th wheel behind a vehicle that weighs less than a quarter of it, granted thats less of an issue than a 2" receiver... The horrors I've seen with those.

Curt used to make 5th wheel kits for S10, Dakota, Ford ranger and the Taco.

I wonder how well they sold at the time...

Why does Chevy make it so that we have to do so much just to have 33’s. (These aren’t 33’s btw) by Ok_Scallion_9613 in chevycolorado

[–]StarsandMaple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usic just switched from Rado to full size.

For 90% of pick up truck use a midsize is more than enough, but usually optioned similarly to a half ton the price is only 2-3k different... Last i priced out a Colorado it was similar in price for options i wanted as a 1500, with 4x4 on both and 4 door cab. I just think these things are sweet compared to a bulky swaying 1500.

Thank you, next pack I'll get TR-1. I appreciate it.

Just frustrating as in a week I've got through 3 coils because they'd not wick and burn. I love the PnP coils otherwise. Readily available at most Brick n Mortar
