On this date in 1977, The Sex Pistols released their only album, Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols. It contained the singles, "Anarchy In The U.K." (#38 U.K.), "God Save The Queen" (#2 U.K.), "Pretty Vacant" (#6 U.K.) and "Holidays In The Sun" (#8 U.K.). Miraculously, in spite of a ban that kept it from many record shops and kept some of their songs off the radio, the album managed to reach the #1 spot on the U.K. albums chart.

GBH was also known as Charged GBH and stood for Grievous Bodily Harm, a crime that their bass player, Sean McCarthy, was on trial for at the time. They are considered one of the founders of UK hardcore punk.
