Honestly, it is fucking bonkers that Blizzard can announce this new "race", only to backpedal saying they won't be able to transmog gear, and in fact won't even be able to ride mounts in their "true form".

Here's the thing; I think people would be ALL on board with those restrictions, if they actually LOOKED like Dragons.

Even SMALL, player-sized dragons, comparable to Druid forms or Worgen's Running Wild.

But already, people are huffing that copium, saying "oh they look fine".

They DON'T look "fine".

They look fucking weird.

And without even the OPTION of transmogging, you're essentially saying this entire Race AND Class are stuck as naked lizard-people.

As compared to... Blizzard actually rolling up their sleeves, and coming up with something that actually LOOKS like a fucking dragon, which would be one HELL of a lot more exciting, and would also be FAR more enticing to try playing the game, even to folks who aren't actively playing.

This is why I hate "fans" sometimes. Because it doesn't even come down to "conversation" or "debate". It's just "It's BLIZZARD'S GAME, if you don't like it you can leave!", instead of accepting feedback to try and IMPROVE it.

No, all the allies races are built on preexisting skeletons. Kul Tirans and Zandalari have more modified meshes than the other allied races, but generally speaking the armor pieces which are usually completely texture based are the the most disformed parts of their mesh. Chest and pants for instance generally have very few "extra bits" and chest in general were nothing more than a texture until legion or BFA meaning they don't take a ton of work to adapt for new a new race.

Dracthyr are an entirely different beast, literally and figuratively. They have a skeleton and animations which are completely new for a playable race meaning all the armor pieces which have an associated model and not just a texture swap would need to deformed and reproportioned so as not a) look dumb, and b) not to clip through other pieces.

There is a reason "true" races are added to the game so rarely in WoW. It is very costly and resource intensive. FFXIV gets away with it because there are far fewer item models, and when items don't work properly IE. Bunny girl ears with most helmets, they simply disable the graphics for that armor/race combo instead of modifying it.

They could just as easily have used the Worgen skeleton as a "template". The most compelling theory I've read, is that it's loosely based on one of the Demon Hunter forms.

My thing is; Blizzard has the kind of resources, they shouldn't be "cutting corners" on the centerpiece of their new expansion. Saying "yeah, we could totally make armor work for Tauren, Draenei, and Worgen, but not these new Dracthyr" just doesn't check out.

It seems more likely that Blizzard is just looking to cut corners. But if that's the case, could you really not come up with a better solution than a naked lizard-person? Hell, the Zandalari cat-form looks more "draconic" than these guys, imo.

I don't mean to be a hater; in fact, in some respects I actually really enjoyed the whole "wedding" side-story. Seeing the bride lose her shit was genuinely hilarious at a few points... but it did feel like a completely different movie.

Part of me wonders if you could somehow edit-out a bunch of those scenes (and maybe the awkward "dance-off" scene), if the movie would still work?

Because I feel like Sonic 2 was close to feeling like "the genuine Sonic movie I always wanted", but then it kind of got saddled with focusing on "the human characters" a bit too much.

I... also might cut a couple of those Jim Carey jokes. I suppose that's the sign of becoming a crotchety old man, but some of his jokes felt a little bit cringey (like his "floss", or weird auto-tune bit at the end).

But then, maybe that just shifts the identity of the movie too much to really work? Or maybe that "human side-story" is more pivotal than I'm really giving it credit for?

As much as I love Maverick Hunter X, it’s just kind of missing “something”.

I think it’s worth revising later, just to appreciate how well the voice acting fit, but the visuals are a bit bland compared to the original.

It has an unlockaboe character that’s pretty cool, though. But also pretty wonky and a little “rough” to play at first.

If you love the original, definitely revisit MHX if you’ve ever eager to revisit. But I think most would agree that while it’s GOOD, it just isn’t the BEST first experience.

I really dig Crystalline Conflict, but I'll be honest, I wish it actually gave a meaningful amount of XP (maybe like 20%-ish exp of a level?). So it's a pretty big grind, and I find it hard to run more than a match or two in one sitting.

I kind of feel like there's a LOT of stuff I'd like to be doing in FFXIV, but I'm worried about these limited-time events and rewards. I really dig the Garo mounts, and I especially want to get the armor-set from the PvP Series. However, I honestly probably ENJOY running my roulettes each day, but I don't feel like I have the time to really pursue everything all at once.

Curious if there's any indication, or even simply reasonable assumptions, on when any of these events might end?

And any other "limited time" stuff I may have overlooked?

That honestly kind of surprised me, as well.

I'd still LOVE for Undead DK's to get the option of using a Human model with an "undead" skin (or the purple "Cultist" skin). But yeah, the "of Lordaeron" title really ought to be exclusive to the Undead.

I'm just really struggling to get my DPS up. Here's my character:

https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/us/medivh/maldazzar

Obviously the gear isn't great, I only just started playing again, but I'm genuinely struggling to top like 4k dps, and raidbot is simming my character for like 7k. Moreover, since I'm running Mythic+'s with friends, I want to be in a position where I'm actually doing GREAT damage, not just "humdrum, even BAD damage".

I'm basically keeping Death's Due and Remorseless Winter up, then spamming Obliterate except when Rime is up (Howling Blast), or when near full RP (Frost Strike).

I may just switch over to DW'ing and Breath of Sindragosa if I NEED to, but I honestly just find 2hand Frost more FUN, and cooler-looking.

Any advice?!

"Oh god, this loser is just trying to copy FFXIV"

I know that's probably the knee-jerk reaction. And that's honestly a perfectly logical assumption to make.

But just hear me out first.

The Devs have already spoken about moving towards a future where every race can be every class. I have a lot of personal issues with that idea, but for argument's sake, let's set those misgivings aside and consider what it could mean for WoW, and more specifically, in what ways it might enhance the game experience.

Right now, your "Class" is literally the most meaningful choice you make in the game. Not just mechanically speaking, but your Class also defines very much WHO your character is, as a person.

But they also establish a particular background for your character, as well.

As a Death Knight, you were killed and resurrected to serve Arthas. As a Demon Hunter, you are a believer in Illidan's mission. As a Paladin, you are a Knight (and eventually Highlord) of the Silver Hand. As a Druid, you follow the teachings of Cenarius.

But there's also some inconsistency.

Not all Paladins are from the Silver Hand. Some Warriors are more akin to wild barbarians, while others are bread-and-butter foot soldiers. There are Druids with zero connection to Cenarius.

Moreover, what do each of these "Specializations" really embody?
