Veteran actor Bernard Cribbins has died aged 93 by FutureNytro in movies

The scene with him and David Tennant in last of the time lords when the doctor says he would be proud if he was his dad and the freeing him from the locked door scene are some really fine acting from Bernard that’ll stay with me for a long time.

A 120km drive to job agency: confusion reigns over Australia’s jobseeker requirements, union says | Welfare by ChrisMordd in australia

[–]Protonious 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Having worked colocated with one of the old job active providers, I’ve never been so horrified by the nature of their work. It’s very clear in most instances these services are designed to cut people off payments and to get sick enough of the check ins to just take any job.

AITA for offering a homeless person a loaf of bread by Spare_Violinist in AmItheAsshole

[–]Protonious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a homeless lady once ask me to buy her cigarettes. I would have happily bought her lunch, but often the reason they experience homelessness is a range of reasons far beyond the ability to get housing or access to food or supports.

Mark McGowan uses Deloitte report that shows Perth is Australia’s cheapest capital city to recruit workers by His_Holiness in perth

Doesn’t really account for everyone working outside of oil, gas and mining. Having worked in non for profits and charities I’m sitting sometimes on 100k less for the positions we do compared to the big for profit industries. We don’t all fit one size of living

I think it's just become impossible to enforce. The last time we had one I found myself feeling irate at the amount of people with their nose out or even sometimes their mouth too.

It makes you feel like an idiot to constantly do the right thing and wear your mask and get boosted while everyone else is running around spreading covid and not doing their part.

I'd much rather wear a mask by choice when I felt it was appropriate for me, than have to do something that isn't being enforced and makes me feel penalised for understanding the moral good behind doing it.

What an absolute idiot. So don’t trust in government and democracy when it fails his agenda, if he said that while as opposition leader or PM it would be straight up treasonous

My cat does this. She locks herself into the sofa with her claws. No idea why but she seems happy

The difficult lesson at the heart of a viral TikTok random act of not-so-kindness by movingrandomly in australia

[–]Protonious 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think if you wanted to do random acts of kindness buy everyone a coffee voucher and give them out. Also don’t film it. Simple, it’s not giving pity to marginalised groups.

Online bake sale ? You can have each member bake something then share it among your networks: there’s a few websites that already hate auction systems set up for fund raising and they take a small cut

Most vegans know you don’t win people over to stop eating animals by shouting and screaming at them. You really have to wonder how these activists grow up in such an echo chamber.

I’m so on the fence about Max’s short term death. I get it had to happen to open the gate. But then it felt it took away from her bones snapping and being blinded as that felt already so heavy the idea of her surviving but barely.

Also strong Eleven / Jesus vibes. Raising the dead, she was also strung up in a cross shape.

4 months living with this cutie. She was feral and now she is the sweetest thing. by Protonious in cats

She’s roughly a year and a half. She’s definitely come a long way. She’s softened a lot but the first few months she was hiding, hissing and attacking fairly consistently.
