First off, I appreciate your support! It means a lot to see cis people standing up for us😊. I’m not trying to call you out or anything but I do want to offer my perspective on the people you mentioned.

I used to share your sentiments until I realized I was trans (not implying anything about you I promise) In my experience people who are jumping on the “bandwagon” are exploring themselves more than they are trying to fit in. They may have had thoughts that were confusing to them and they are exploring them in the best way they can. Like, everyone at some point has thought “what if I was born a different gender”, some out of passing, or curiosity, or intrusive thoughts, some because of dysphoria. If you have those thoughts often and you find out that other people who have those thoughts were trans and benifitted from transitioning you would probably want to see if it helps you too. Shaming them may only push them to one extreme or another rather than allowing them to figure things out at their own pace. people are stubborn after all, and sometimes telling someone they are “wrong” just reinforces their want to be “right”, possibly to their own detriment.

I can also tell you from the perspective of a 33 year old trans person that I have hid these feeling from everyone for my entire life, and I am not special. Even the people closest to me were shocked when I told them, though after some time they kinda looked back and saw the signs. But to an outside observer I’m just an old washed up “failed male” looking for an excuse to dismiss my shortcomings and belong to a group. I didn’t even know what trans people ACTUALLY were up until 2 years ago, so it’s not really surprising to me that there are so many people coming out of the closet now, and it’s probably not as massive as you think, it’s just that you are seeing them now where you wouldn’t have before. Heck, I remember people saying the same thing in the 2000s about gay people.

I can also assure you that it is in fact not the in thing to do at all some people just make it look easy 🙃
