Hello all! My husband and I have our second interview (Stokes interview) coming up next Tuesday at Federal Plaza in NYC! I am the US citizen. One attorney we met with, after hearing our story and case, felt like we would be fine without an attorney for our stokes interview, as long as we go in confident and prepared and show as much as evidence as we can. My husband and I have been together for 6 years, married for nearly 4 years and lived together that whole time, and we know each other very very well. This is a true bonafide marriage through and through. We feel confident we will ace this second interview, but we aren't sure if an attorney is needed or would make a difference. Would love some feedback from you all!
We first filed I-485 and I-130 in August 2018. Our first interview was back in Fall 2019 and it went overall fairly well, we just stumbled on 2 questions and the agent said they had to do a background check on my husband to make sure he wasn't married before in his home country (due to a mistake when he filled out an immigration form when entering the US back in 2013 with his then girlfriend from Brazil . . . he accidentally marked her as "spouse"). My husband has never been married before and I'm sure USCIS has cleared that up by now since its been nearly 3 years since that interview! We have had no movement/action until last week when we got a letter saying we had a Stokes interview.
Would love to hear those with similar experiences, and if you went in with an attorney or not for the Stokes interview. Will be greatly appreciated!
