The Umbrella Academy Season 3 Trailer Is Here

Move over, metaverses — both Strange and Everything — because there’s a new quasi-scientific, quasi-magical player in town. Netflix just dropped the season 3 trailer for its hit show The Umbrella Academy starring Elliot Page.

The comic book adaptation returns to your TV (or, smartphone) screens on Wednesday, June 22 with 10 new episodes and finds the Hargreeves siblings transported to an alternate version of the year 2019. Here’s hoping COVID doesn’t exist there. In this universe, they find members of The Sparrow Academy, or whom they refer to in the trailer as “a bunch of blobs and cubes and birds and shit.” While fighting with the members of Sparrow, they also have to figure out how to save the world (again!).

Elliot Page teased in March that his Umbrella character would transition, just as the actor has in real life. Page posted an image of his character, Viktor Hargreeves, to Instagram. After Page announced that he was trans, Netflix announced that it would change credits on all of his projects on their platform, but it wasn’t until his March IG post that fans of the show knew what would happen to his onscreen persona.

Showrunner Steve Blackman told Time magazine that Page had become much more high-spirited after coming out. “It seems like there’s a tremendous weight off his shoulders, a feeling of comfort,” he said. “There’s a lightness, a lot more smiling.”
