    Bharat Mata ki jai is communal. Vande Mataram, sung be revolutionaries of the freedom movement, is objectionable. Faiz's poem which call for the destruction of other's idols using Islamic memes is "secular."

    The national song, Vande Mataram, is problematic for exactly those who want us to understand Faiz at a deeper level. Where does one get such chutzpah!

    Faiz isn't bigger than Dharma. If his "nazms" normalise hatred or contempt for idol worship and incite breaking of idols, they have no place in Bharat. This is a thoroughly justified, reasonable and Constitutional view.

    Extremely shameful that an institution like IIT can’t comprehend the intent and context of Faiz Ahmad Faiz’s revolutionary nazm ‘hum dekhenge’. Worst is that a panel will decide if it’s anti-Hindu or not. Remember it’s about Faiz. SHAME

    Once in JNU a musical evening was organised at PSR in partnership with some group. When first singer started with Ganesh Vandana, comrades went berserk & created so much ruckus that shocked & scared singer had to stop. After that it was only Faiz like Urdu ‘revolutionary poetry.’

    Sir, consider Bollywood films scripted by "progressive" Muslim writers. Supposedly Hindu characters routinely use "Allah"-words. Would you object to that as communal? Check out "Dabang 3." Aren't lyrics Islamic even when the backdrops are temples--keh diya rab se tu mera hafiz?

    Is Faiz a "God" that he can't be questioned or critiqued? Would you cry "shame" with equal vehemence at those who object to Vande Mataram? Islamic symbolism permeates many a progressive Muslim poet; then why shout & scream about Hindu symbolism in Hindu poets? Be impartial, Sir.
