A twitch is a device that is used to restrain horses for various stressful situations, such as veterinary treatment. Although it may look and sound inhumane, a twitch calms the horse by releasing endorphins as pressure is applied on the twitch, not causing the horse any pain. It is usually made up of a stick-like handle loop of chain or rope on the end, or a metal ring with a rope loop which is wrapped around the upper lip of the horse and tightened. Another design, sometimes called a "humane" twitch, is a plier-like clamp that squeezes the lip with motion akin to that seen in a nutcracker. The aluminium screw twitch is yet another form of twitch.
The upper lip of the horse is grasped and the loop of chain or rope is placed around it, then the handle of the twitch is twisted until the loop is firmly around the lip. A wooden handled twitch has the disadvantage that it requires a handler and the handle may injure the horse handler if the horse throws its head. Other twitches may be attached to the halter or headcollar. An emergency twitch can be improvised by placing a loop of leather or heavy cord around the nose and tightening it by twisting a stick around and around until it is tightened sufficiently.
A device is usually a constructed tool, but may refer more specifically to:

Device was an industrial metal band started by David Draiman, frontman of the heavy metal group Disturbed. Draiman was approached by Geno Lenardo, former guitarist of Filter, and together they started to work on new material. The two started work on a debut album in June 2012. The result of those sessions, Device, was released on April 9, 2013. The first single and third track, "Vilify" was released to radio ahead of the album on February 19, 2013, alongside its first music video, directed by P. R. Brown. The second single and the introductory track, "You Think You Know", was released on June 11, 2013, alongside its music video, directed once again by Brown.
After Disturbed went into hiatus in late 2011, frontman David Draiman announced a new side-project called Device in May 2012. He revealed that he would be working with Geno Lenardo, former guitarist for Filter for their Title of Record and Amalgamut albums, in the new sideproject. Draiman revealed his intention to do a project with more of an electronic sound, but in an industrial metal type way, sounding similar to Nine Inch Nails or Ministry, not dubstep.
Device is the fourth and last studio album released by Eon on August 1, 2006 through Fiberlineaudio.com.
Twitch is an American reality television show which ran between 1995 and 1997, and was the first nationally broadcast weekly video game review show, a predecessor for such shows as Attack Of The Show! and GameTrailers TV. It was created and produced by "Unity Entertainment" based out of Denver, Colorado and was a staple program for the TV! television network (as it was known in 1995) as its chief nationwide distributor.
The series ended after its distributor TV! was bought out and its entire programming bloc replaced with an all-movie format under the Encore Plex banner at the start of the year in 1997.
Twitch.tv is a live streaming video platform owned by Twitch Interactive, a subsidiary of Amazon.com. Introduced in June 2011 as a spin-off of the general-interest streaming platform Justin.tv, the site primarily focuses on video gaming, including playthroughs of video games, broadcasts of esports competitions, and more recently, creative content. Content on the site can either be viewed live, or viewed via Video on demand.
The popularity of Twitch would eclipse that of its general-interest counterpart; in October 2013, the website had 45 million unique viewers, and by February 2014, it was considered the fourth largest source of peak Internet traffic in the United States. At the same time, Justin.tv's parent company was re-branded as Twitch Interactive to represent the shift in focus – Justin.tv was shut down in August 2014. The site has also branched out into music-related streams and content. In 2015, Twitch announced it had more than 1.5 million broadcasters and 100 million visitors per month.
Twitch is an EP, and the first official release, by Australian alternative rock band Jebediah. It was released on 5 August 1996 by record label Murmur.
In January 1996 Jebediah were selected to play the local leg of the Summersault festival, run by promoter Steve Pavlovic, which featured Beastie Boys, Foo Fighters, Sonic Youth, Beck, Pavement and Rancid. In March that year they recorded five songs with Chris Dickie – an English sound engineer who had worked with The Pogues, Morrissey and Depeche Mode before moving to Australia in 1994 – at the Poons Head Studios in Western Australia. These were the first songs that the band had ever recorded.
In April the band signed with Murmur, an imprint of Sony Music Australia, following which they embarked on a number of national tours. The first with label stable-mates Something for Kate (called "Unipalooza") was for six weeks, performing at universities all around Australia. This was followed by supporting Snout and Automatic on their national tour in June. The band also won its first WAMi award for 'Best Stage Presence' that year.
