We're not giving them money and food, we are giving them the opportunity to work, not only to better themselves but in the long run to develop this country that we love very much."

As long as Malaysian employers, authorities,& political leaders cannot put a permanent stop to greed-driven human exploitation, we must accept that our nation cannot truly progress. And our global reputation will be soiled beyond salvation.

Such degrading and demeaning treatment. Companies reap millions in profit from MWs who toil for 12-20hours a day,but treated with such disgrace .Company must be punished for risking the lives of workers , then treating them in such a humiliating manner.

We must improve housing for migrant workers, not just for disease control but because it’s the right and humane thing to do. It’s simply appalling that workers live in such poor conditions while their bosses earn millions many.

Hamzah and Dzaimee’s xenophobic and threatening statements will drive the millions of undocumented migrants in Malaysia into hiding and we will not achieve the herd immunity so vital for our path to recovery as a nation - Liew Chin Tong | Malay Mail

GOOD! But let's stop using terms "illegal Immigrant" & "PATI". Why? 1.Dehumanising terms. No human is illegal 2.Legally misleading and misrepresentative 3.Reinforces heinous public perception 4.Justifies criminalisation by authorities. 5. Whitewashes crimes by agents/employers

Further to my story from last week, a large coalition of Malaysian NGOs including are calling upon intervention from the king to call for a “full moratorium on arrest and detention” of migrants in Malaysia

This is the outcome when a ministry overrules all other relevant ministries, when Immigration Act supersedes all other legislations, no consultative processes in decision-making ,ad-hoc policies such as this are issued, putting millions of people at risk.

He must also question:If JIM had functioned with transparency, accountability, integrity and basic principles, with a system that's not embedded with corruption and bribery, which is well documented, would there be millions of undocumented migrants/workers!

Covid-19 virus does not discriminate and neither should the government. When we are grappling with serious health pandemic, trying very hard to implement the national immunisation programme, the Home Ministry destroys it all with the crackdown operations.

It's well documented how corruption is embedded in the immigration system,so STOP shifting the attention from the real problem, while using migrants as tools/weapons against us all, covering the ineffectiveness of the Immigration Department. Unbelievably arrogant!

Such cruelty, this is not only dehumanising, the government continues to use migrants as scapegoats, and to shift attention from the problems of the pandemic.
