Native Peoples Harvested Huge Amounts of Seafood Without Harming Ecosystems | Archaeological research highlights how Indigenous communities practiced sustainable fishery management over thousands of years. by a_Ninja_b0y in science

Exactly my thoughts. We're talking orders of magnitude higher population density and vast industrial fishing requirements to feed everyone.

Not to say sustainable fishing isn't possible but I just don't see how it's relevant.

I like the idea of developing techniques for both sides. I'll have a different set of techniques for different sides. Or at least that's the goal. Please don't make do anything but loose passing to my right :/

I have a nightly routine that I've worked out.

Just target hamstrings and hips as priorities. Glutes, quads, calves are also good secondary targets. Just your entire lower body basically. If you find a stretch for each muscle group and start there you'll be on your way.

Shut the fuck up. This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. If my ankle is fucked up from an ankle lock then guess what...if you ankle lock me even 5% it's going to hurt like hell and set back my recovery time.

The disclaimer is not to say don't attack, it's to say "go slow if you hit this, I'll tap fast".

Unless it's a neck injury and then I just ask them not to crank if they can help it.

[–]Verisian- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You immediately tap. Look at them and tell them to calm down, you want a light roll.

If they go harder, you just tap and say "too hard".

Just be assertive and kind. You don't have to be a dick about it.

Are you 13 years old? Do you have a brain injury?

Why the fuck would someone care about looks if they aren't being judged for it? I mean men get judged about it but it's a secondary characteristic to status.

Women's primary characteristic they are valued on is beauty. This isn't controversial if you regularly touch grass.

It's just reality. Things are fine here. I don't get why everyone is so doom and gloom. The economic data is solid. Inflation is troubling with the ultra low unemployment but its being driven so significantly by global supply issues that will resolve soon.

[–]Verisian- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To suggest that women care more about looks as men is one of the most ludicrous things I've ever heard.

Consider the disparity in beauty standards. Men don't have much to live up to. We don't have to wear make up. Most women feel pressure to wear make up. If a guy does wear make up its extremely minor like bronzing moisturiser. Beauty is SUPER important to women because it's really, sadly, the biggest thing she'll be judged over.

Men don't have these types of pressures because men are judged more on social status type stuff then looks. A man in his 40s is totally fine pulling girls. A 40 year old lady? Well, she'll be able to have casual sex usually but good luck getting a relationship. And she better be hot as fuck. A 40 year old guy, out of shape, but with wealth and status? No worries, he's fine.

You just sound like an ugly man projecting hard.

Forehead on his chest makes you invulnerable to guillotines.

To get a guillotine they need to pass your head to one side.

Imagine trying to guillotine someone with their head on your sternum. You HAVE to pass it onto one side. So while they're trying to do that you have time to finish the takedown.

Dunno if you're a gym owner or anything but I'd love to talk to a more established school owner and find out what the real attrition rate is.

Like....for how many people walk in the door how many blue belts do you get? How many purple? How many brown? (I guess attrition rate approaches 0% when you get your brown belt, anyone would have quit by now).

Are you like a really small person? Like if a woman asked me if she could beat a man in a fight with jiu jitsu....I'd say 'yes' but with like a million qualifiers.

If you're like a 5'8, 160 pound man, then yes with jiu jitsu and maybe some gym work to build your strength you'll EASILY be able to defend yourself against the vast majority of people who might possibly attack you.

It really doesn't take much jiu jitsu to start beating up on untrained people. Imagine an untrained person as someone doing jiu jitsu on their very first day in class. They do everything wrong, they have no idea what's happening and they're often confused about how they're losing.

In a fight scenario it's a little different since there's striking + intensity is super high. Ultimately though, just grapple them. Shoot a take down and go from there. With jiu jitsu training, you will win that exchange unless the guy has some athletic background that could help him.

Avoid rugby players, those guys are tough to grapple.

Hahahaha I can't believe you thought of a paper cutter in a t-shirt. That's actually so cool. If only I wasn't a no gi guy, I'm not sure I could remember a gi choke in the heat of battle.

Haha are you me? I legit lost my last 3 comp matches to the same guy (friend, diff gym) and it's got me into the gym. I was his 50th comp win. Feels bad man.

But I love him, because it makes me work so hard to get better.

We have no data on what beings trans would look like in a demedicalised world. Please don't tell me with a straight face you already know the answer. I think we would agree with almost everything re trans issue but I just find the demedicalisation stuff kinda fucked.

Dpak shot out of a CANNON by ImagineTheHorror in Destiny

[–]Verisian- 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You make valid points however a lot of the data that does exist goes back to a time before trans issues became so popularised. It's also before a time where we see demedicalisation of trans issues.

What if the detransition rate is so low precisely because it was highly restricted and only available to those who went through medical channels?

Some trans activists want trans people or people who purport to be trans to have free and easy access without ever consulting a doctor.

I personally want kids to be able to transition but only under pretty strict guidance from doctors. And we need doctors to feel safe if they say "no".

The man is already goated 5x over.

Nobody in the history of MMA has matched him. He was the undisputed champion 6 long fucking years until Conor came along.

Did he roll over and die?

No, of course not. He's too elite to quit. He just keeps beating elite fighters. Again and again and again..

The man's resume is ALL time.

Give me a break. This isn't a rule break during the heat of a match like taking an illegal grip. That shit is way more justifiable than the fake fist bump.

Ostracise those that break the rules of the fist bump.
