WE felt outclassed by a better team in more or less all aspects today. Definitely going to be a battle to make it to playoffs.

Heng is probably the best representation of this WE squad. You can see the willingness to make plays and the proactive nature as positives, but the execution (particularly in those Game 2 bot dives, which gave Fofo the green light to carry) and the actual macro (where EDG was won Game 1 off of) was lacking today. Still, it's good to see him try (despite the struggles today) and it feels like WE's spring performance will largely depend on how he develops.

Hope sort of just didn't get a chance to play the game today. 2 Zeri games where he went into strong lanes from EDG, which gave some leeway for a debuting Leave. Meiko was a monster today in stemming those bot lane dives and honestly had an MVP type performance in both games.

Shanks is fine individually but meshing with the rest of the team continues to be a struggle. On a pick like Galio in particular, you trade your damage output for your global presence and tankiness, but it felt moot in most fights. A fed Akali romping in the backline invalidated Hope, and Shanks just didn't do enough on the other end. As I've said, high expectations for a player that has the upside to be great, but they weren't met here.

On the other hand, I have next to no expectations for Biubiu, and he continues to dissapoint. It says something when Ale is having getting picked left and right in Game 2, yet he's being way more impactful than WE's top laner. Outside of being okay at tanks in team fights, I have no idea what he brings to the table. Limited champion pool that forces him to pick for lane just to get by, zero hands, it's rough out there. I just wish WE would go the IG route and pick up a young top laner with mechanical ability like Zika or YSKM. Sure, Ale might explode at any given moment, but at least he isn't automatically handing over an auto win in lane. Biubiu just kneecaps WE's upside given you can count on at least one slightly losing lane in every game.

So yeah, props to EDG. The Ale/Fofo restoration project seems good so far. Jiejie and Meiko both continue to be excellent and that's a core that quietly did wonders today. As for WE, we've seen ups and downs. TT up next will be a big test, as both teams have similar aspirations on that playoff bubble.

Really great post man, props. Not a big WE fan but walked away with similar takeaways. Impressed by Heng's early game, think Shanks and Hope have potential, but BiuBiu is a bit depressing.

This thread is legitimately disturbing. So many people defending the "holocaust isn't real" stuff. So many people being like 'oh my god based!' or '1984' or 'clown world'. I'm sure some of you are doing it ironically, but like... not all of you. And even if you're doing it ironically, that's kind of fucked.

I don't know, as someone who's followed osu! for a decade now I don't really see why mrekk isn't the GOAT. He has, by a pretty large margin, the best resume of scores in the game's history. He has dominated the hardest era of the game. Shige has an amazing legacy and is an awesome player even today, but it's pretty clear that mrekk is a better player than he ever was and it's extremely hard for me to get past that.

I feel like sometimes GOAT debates don't consider era enough. There's so many people in this thread saying "but mrekk isn't as dominant as Shige was during his peak" - yeah, it's not possible to be that dominant anymore. People are way, way too good now. You can't be the best at every skillset anymore because the elite of a given skillset are too good compared to where they were years ago. But mrekk's still very clearly the best player right now despite how strong the opposition is. That matters the most to me.

I don’t think you’re entirely wrong, but I also read waaaaay too many people thinking that the new era should be protected from each other on the way up. It has never been that way nor should it.

Arman should get a top 5, and will now. Gamrot did and got smashed by Beneil. He didn’t actually beat Arman anyways. Damir retired.

It’ll all workout.

I'm just terrified we'll get Fiziev vs Arman. If we get Fiziev vs Gaethje and Arman vs Chandler or Dariush or Oliveira or whatever, I'm super happy.

It was :

Rookie year - both clear and obvious star potential

2nd year - both All-stars, huge leaps

3rd year - Trae dips behind in regular season, but overachieved post-season. Still pretty even. Luka dragged down by coach/organization/trade drama

4th year - Trae rebounds to all-star, Luka ascends to perennial all-NBA caliber with new teammates and coach

5th year so far - Trae's still at "just" all-star and on a bad shooting season, Luka is MVP top 3 candidate, Trae's turn for coach/org/trade drama

I don't think it will ever get back to even, Dallas will always have the better player, but I definitely think this is Trae's low point so far with the shooting slump and team disarray. Atlanta needs to shit or get off the pot with their coach situation and with trading/not trading Collins.

Thing is, Luka even as a sophomore was just a lot better than Trae. He's never been as bad defensively as Trae, he's never been on a team as bad as the '20 Hawks, the '20 Mavs were an awesome offense (admittedly partially due to the bench). Luka's always been amazing in the postseason and Trae's been increasingly suspect.

Of course it was closer back in 2020 than it is now, but I always thought it was a bit of a stupid narrative.

You're gonna get downvoted, but he's always sucked against strong wrestlers when it hit the mat. All of his losses are getting his ass beat by people who used their wrestling advantage over him. lol

He whooped Tony's ass, but that was before we realized Tony was washed after the Gaethje fight, tbh.

Guida and Miller are the best grapplers he's beaten in this recent run. And that's not to say Dustin and Chandler aren't good grapplers, but neither of them leaned on their grappling to fight Charles. lol.

I think everyone overblew his grappling advantage over folks, and it played into the fight narratives on fight night, tbh.

I am not saying he's not very good though. So, don't mistake it for me saying Charles sucks. lmao. I'm not saying that. I'm saying that folks got in their head about "how" good he was on the ground.

Honestly, as good as Islam looked, Oliveira's weirdness was the main sight for me that fight. Felt like his energy was off, didn't adjust to a defensive fighter. He built a streak off of being incredible, all-time great even, at fighting fire with fire, but when faced with water, that fire doesn't work. Just looked predictable, discouraged and uncertain out there.

I know this is 20/20 but Charles didn't seem to have an anti-wrestler game plan. He just came out with his regular plan which is great normally but not against Islam. That's not to say Islam wouldn't have won anyway but still it seemed like bad fight IQ.

I don't think the wrestling was a huge problem. He looked reasonable enough off his back, didn't get dominated, and there was a good amount of time on the feet. The issue is the fear of the wrestling contributed to him losing the striking and he looked pretty questionable in that space as well. He didn't lose the fight because he got taken down and beaten up, he lost the fight because he got knocked down on the feet.

If you have to provide a load of context, which could possibly negate what it's even saying, then why do we use it at all? I just ignore it or any "advanced" stat that uses it. It doesn't accurately tell me anything in and of itself.

Because it is interesting when you qualify it properly. What I've taken more interested in lately is rating when on. Basically, it matters more to me that your team is awesome offensively when you play than how much better your team is offensively when you play vs don't play.

It's weird to think Colby would size bully RDA at 165 given their fight at 170 was super close and you could make a fair argument RDA won it. Chiesa, I dunno, that fight was super weird, one of RDA's worst career performances for sure.
