How does this make you all feel? I can’t judge someone’s medical situation, it is THEIR business not mine, but I could never act like this, let alone socially, knowing that I’m not healthy physically or mentally. I don’t understand how being unhealthy is something to brag about. by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Jim-20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in poor taste. 100% VA means you're pretty screwed up (or at least appear to be on paper) - hardly something to parade around. Sure, the VA money has kept me from being homeless & gave me healthcare, but I also am in immense pain moving around and constantly fantasizing about suicid3 (altered in case the actual word triggers some kind of auto-response/message bot). Would gladly trade money for health at this point watching even my non-athletic friends running around and having good qualities-of-life.

To play Devil's Advocate however; we don't know his situation or his past. He very well could have a slough of legitimate medical problems that are/were documented. Perhaps this is his way of coping with the idea/fact that he is (assuming his case is legitimate) far worse shape than most people, let alone his age group?

As someone applying for TDIU at 24 with mountains of issues and paperwork, I can at least empathize with him if his history/backround is anything close to mine. Getting out, I didn't even know the VA was a thing and would've been homeless due to the physical/mental problems that happened because of/while in AD. Somebody else said it in this thread - but the Army will hardly care about him once they give him his DD-214 and plane ticket home.

He's an SSG, so I have no doubt he has his fair share of issues, combat patch or not. The SSG's I knew who left the military in good shape are far and few. Physical, mental or both - some kind of issues compared to their civilian counterparts. The Airborne patch at least tells us his joints probably aren't in great shape lol

Maybe my unit and being in Fort Hood has warped my way of thinking drastically compared to pre-military, but he'd be much smarter laying low and not drawing unnecessary attention to himself like this by posting on TikTok. At the end of the day, it's like my unit said at OSUT - "Play the Game"

Who is the Next British Champion by MrFinalFlash in ufc

  • Aspinall has a pretty legit chance. He's incredibly well-rounded but is still young. The Blaydes fight will really give us a good idea of where he stands and his upper limits/ceiling. It may not be immediate, but he absolutely can get a belt in the future.
  • Edwards is an amazing fighter, and although he's rather underrated the WW division is pretty solid. Usman, Covington, Burns and Chimaev are all killers in their own rights. He could beat any of them on his best night, but that also applies the other way around as well. It's jokingly referred to as WelterWait, but the top 5 are no joke.
  • Till...not happening. Entertaining guy, but hardly championship caliber.
  • Allen, like Edwards, is an incredible fighter but also resides in an incredibly difficult division with guys like Holloway - who showed us just how far ahead he and Volkanovski seemingly are against the rest of the division. Like Aspinall, perhaps in the future, but unlikely at the moment.
  • Fuck off.

Admittedly I'm one to bite on hype trains, but Muhammad "The Punisher" Mokaev is an up-and-comer and a killer. Could certainly see him getting the belt wrapped around his waist one day.

Best of luck to you.

I went to EBH in Hood far too late. Would've turned out a lot better overall both in AD and out now had I gone earlier.

Genuinely wishing you the best.

Tuivasa is a fan favorite no doubt, but this is essentially Gane vs Lewis II.

Calvin Kattar vs Josh Emmett will headline #UFCAustin on June 18 by JasAFC in MMA

[–]Jim-20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will be a fun matchup. Emmett has a lot of explosive power and Kattar looked like a brand new fighter against Giga Chikadze.

One of those fights where I really don't want to see either guy lose.

Also holy shit TIL Emmett is 37. If he wants to get in the title scene it's a now-or-never type deal.

Who would win a fight 112 female UFC fighters (average height 5'5, weight class 115-135lbs) vs 144 WNBA players(average height 6'0)? by Drummond100 in polls

[–]Jim-20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People arguing size difference are severely underestimating the skill differential between a professional fighter and a group of people who possibly have never thrown a punch in their lives.

The UFC isn't some amateur league or backyard fight gig; it's one of - if not the - highest levels of MMA.

"Weight classes exist" hardly makes a difference if you don't know how to stuff a takedown, block punches/check kicks or not get choked out. There is a discrepency, but it's hardly Thor Bjornsson vs Conor McGregor. I fight at 170 lbs and have easily dropped people with way bigger weight/size discrepancies - not even saying this to be /r/iamverybadass - solely because they didn't know what to do.

The same way the UFC fighters would get destroyed in a basketball match against the WNBA players.

Yeah; the general consensus seems to be in favor of the new one but I just am too in love with the classic at this point.

IMO, Francis should be chasing the Wilder fight instead of Fury by bigmacpapii in ufc

[–]Jim-20 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Should be the latter. Francis may be a monster in his own right in MMA but boxing is a whole different sport.

He loses against both of them, but has a marginally better chance against Wilder. Fury however is the bigger name as Ngannou more than deserves a respectable payday.

Stots is such a good, technical fighter. Would love to see him in the UFC one day but as another poster said, he's already 33. Great fighter regardless.

Watching this I realize Nick acts just like Destiny. He tries to Psycho-analyze Metokur's no effort tweets. by Kyvix2020 in MisterMetokur

[–]Jim-20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I joined a bit late, but I knew Nick was fucked when he started going on about "Internet legacies" when Metokur explicitly stated he doesn't care and has deleted accounts in the past.

He had to bring on Ralph and Baked Alaska to gang up on Metokur but it just became more obvious how desperate Fuentes was because he got dead silent while those two tards were screaming.

Also you got to love the full on damage control for Nick going on in the hosts twitter thread/poll.

Obligatory Nick vs Jim thread. by PriestofSerapina in MisterMetokur

[–]Jim-20 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Neither of them were really getting anywhere, with Nick going "no you" and "As a smart person..." and Metokur responding to questions with his own questions.

Nick bringing on low IQ retards like Rage Pig Ralph, Baked Alaska and ganging up on Metokur was a real bitch move. Flamenco did a pretty good job of mostly staying on the sidelines but his chat was saying that Destiny wanted to get on and if he had at least maybe things could have been more interesting/thought provoking than Ralph crying about how he literally ate shit and Baked screaming about vaccines and grifting as if he wasn't the biggest grifter in his prime.

Ralph rage pigging and Baked screaming like a Californian Junkie and all it took was for Jim to call out Fuentes and the occasional quip from Flamenco for them to crumble.

[–]Jim-20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Oliveira's Muay Thai stance is going to be the major factor here to help him against Gaethje's signature leg kicks.

Gaethje is a powerhouse, and it's always risky to bet against him because he has that "fuck you" level of power, but Oliveira has shown time and time again his ability to overcome adversity.

Oliveira by submission or Gaethje by KO are the two most likely outcomes if you are a betting type.
