If this guy the same size as me hadn't beat me up I would definitely have beat up the guy 100 pounds larger than me.

This is why nobody ever thinks they're the one that starts a fight. They have such poor self-awareness to recognize that they're the asshole.

Especially because otherwise we rarely see them all that intimate. I think Howard got at that pretty clearly when he confronted them. He realized they did this for the thrill, and that struck a nerve, because it simultaneously called into question their moral high ground and the authenticityof their relationship

First one was great. Didn't like this one. Pet peeve of mine is having to listen to celebrities talk about how they don't pay attention to pop culture. Not paying attention is fine. Talking about how you don't pay attention to pop culture is boring.

about the collage... by Giovan_Doza in Barry

Immature and also superficial. Other than Ohio, is there anything in the collage that Barry actually has an interest in? Twix? Jordan? Metallica? I feel like Sally wouldn't even know he liked those things. He's supposed to follow Hank's advice of subtle honesty and instead his collage is like a Jay Leno joke: devoid of personality.

Most recent Curb season also really went at Netflix.

Apparently Netflix refused to let Tony Hale go to anything promoting Veep, including awards shows, because of his ties to Arrested Development (discussed on the smartless podcast)

Based on the number of incidents in America where people who buy a gun to protect themselves against evil end up accidentally shooting themselves or family members, I suppose this was actually the most likely outcome.

Robert Whittaker on Khamzat: "There are bigger guys. You can't get away with certain things. You can't take those shots Burns delivered on him as a Middleweight." by metanoia09 in MMA

[–]EchoMike1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For real. Just look at the number of KO/TKO at heavyweight. It's not as if those guys are a bunch of weak-chinned babies. It's because the ratio of power to size is much greater at HW. You can't really swang and bang at HW for any meaningful length of time before someone's lights go out.

If I spent 3 hours with someone like Wonderboy, I'd think it was an act and want nothing to do with the guy. But, I don't think you can put on this persona for like 20 years without someone coming forward and pointing out some sort of inconsistency. WB seems genuine, even though most of the people I know who act like him are not genuine.

Kim was corrupted by neglectful/withholding parents. Kim values companionship, and identified at an early age that pulling schemes was a means of facilitating companionship for even absentee parents. She schemes with Jimmy because such behaviour is a tried and true pathway to companionship... The bonus of the schemes is that she gets to target people who make assumptions that belittle her agency, as if she has Stockholm syndrome. I don't think any character really understands Kim, but Jimmy at least recognizes what she enjoys.

Drance in print is great. Drance on the Vancast is another matter. Not because of the information he delivers, but because of how he delivers it. Can't stand his laugh and his yelling, neither of which seem genuine. Stop trying to be entertaining as a media personality... I'm entertained by information, not persona.

The only resentment or confusion I have is the implication is that they've got optometrists on every other block in Brazil, you know. There's something wrong with your eye in Brazil, some witch doctor waves a fishbone in front of your cornea and hopes your vision feels better.

Bieksa is the best part of these intermission things, guy is pure comedy and an intellectual as well. Great addition to the squad. by tannerisBM in canucks

I'm curious how fans of other teams view KB. Guy was a warrior for the Canucks and it was easy to love the guy as a fan. If you're on the other side of things, I can see how it would be easy to hate Bieksa the player. Have fans of rival teams warmed up to him at all?

Why would a guy like Chandler ever agree to fight someone whose main career highlight is getting KO'd be Kevin Lee? I would hate to be an MMA matchmaker just because of how stupid/stubborn 90% of fighters are.
