Fighters and Personalities
Alexander Volkanovski
- Volkanovski weighs 240lbs - This is a reference to Joe Rogan saying that Alex Volkanovski, current 5’6” featherweight champ, weighed an impossibly heavy 240 pounds back when Volk played rugby. This is an increase from the 210 that everybody thought Volk had weighed in his rugby days. Joe went on to describe how Volk now must possess the lung capacity of a 240-pound man. You will now regularly see references to Volkanovski’s brutal 500 lb weight cut.
Alistair Overeem
Wow! Very fantastic body! - An enthusiastic fan is very impressed with Overeem's all-natural physique
Overeem on Horsemeat - Fans have speculated that this is the source of Overeem's fantastic body.
Andrei Arlovski
- How taste my pee-pee? - Tim Sylvia was dating Arlovski's ex, so Arlovski asked him how his pee-pee tasted...
Andy Wang
- That dude's a warrior - Wang was a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter who ended up crying after losing a fight. The show edited his defeat and tears together with him speaking about the fight and how he was "a warrior".
Artem Lobov
- The GOAT - Originally designated to his teammate Cathal Pendred (see below), it has since been transferred to Artem since he stayed in the sport longer despite his lackluster record, in-cage performance notwithstanding. Several people have also made fun of his short reach and seemingly special treatment, prior to being cut from the UFC, due to his close association with Conor McGregor.
BJ Penn
Motivated BJ Penn - Prior to the third fight with Frankie Edgar, BJ Penn was making a comeback and claiming he was "more motivated than ever" and a meme was born.
The Lava Shack - Former UFC Lightweight and Welterweight champion and all-around legend BJ Penn had one of the most drastic falls from grace the sport has ever seen that saw the former champ draw with Jon Fitch, and then lose seven straight bouts before being released from the promotion in late 2019. Around this time, BJ’s personal issues began to intensify, resulting in several crimes, the most notable of which involved fighting an overweight man, who knocked BJ out, and a DUI in which the airbag deployed in the resulting crash also knocked him out. Both mishaps happened in and around a bar in Hilo called The Lava Shack. The Lava Shack is now jokingly mentioned as an MMA gym in Hawaii, where fighters can go to learn the skill to beat people on BJ’s legendary level. Lava Shack BJ is also an anti-mythical fighter.
Brendan Schaub
The former fighter turned podcaster/analyst, Brendan Schaub has many catchphrases such as "100%" "For sure" "My man" GADOOSH" "Lose my number" "I'm not mad at that". Too many to name.
The Schaub Shutdown - The Schaub Shutdown refers to the grappling match between then brown belt Brendan Schaub and Cyborg. Brendan refused to engage, automatically scoring a draw under Metamoris rules. He then proceeded to explain in the post-match press conference how he shut down Cyborg's game. Cyborg responded with: "You could have done that by staying home.
Brandon/brain injury - Reference to an infamous AMA on Reddit where Schaub was asked many insulting and sarcastic questions.
Brian Ortega

Brock Lesnar
- "Ngannou, the piece of shit. Miocic, the piece of shit. DC, I'm coming for you" - a reference to the promo that Brock did after DC won against Stipe in their first fight.
Cain Velazquez
- Sea Level Cain - Cain Velasquez is known for having great cardio, but in his loss to Werdum a lot of people attribute it to him not being prepared for the altitude and gassing early, thus Sea Level Cain was found to be the better form.
Cathal Pendred
- THE GOAT (original) - A sarcastic reference to Pendred's fighting ability. The Irish fight had a fairly mediocre run in the UFC, including some questionable decision wins. This title has since been usurped by our lord and savior Artem Lobov.
Chael Sonnen
"That happened." - Chael talks about the Nogueira brothers trying to feed a carrot to a bus.
"Basically clean." - Chael's reference to his PED use, having been busted in the past.
"How does [Fighter Name] fit into all of this? / Just how good is [Fighter Name]?" - Chael has a Youtube channel where he uploads videos, usually monologues to the camera about recent MMA fights or news. His videos have yielded these two major memes worth recapping.
"The only person I know that made money using their mouth is his ex-wife" - See Tito Ortiz
Chris Weidman
- The Chris - In reference to how Anderson Silva calls Weidman.
- "This is still my boy!" - Infamous phrased uttered by Weidman's father after he lost the MW title to Luke Rockhold at UFC 194.
Chuck Liddell
- That look in his eye - This stems from Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg's commentary on Chuck Liddell fights, as they would often say "oh he's got that look in his eye" which supposedly meant he was about to go and destroy his opponent.
Cody Garbrandt
- Hanging with the boiiiis - Cody Garbrandt, UFC bantamweight champ, and all-around meathead got drunk and started acting like the typical college douchebag on an episode of TUF 25. He then uttered the infamous phrase, God knows why, and it's been the stuff of legend ever since.
Conor McGregor
- Red Panty Night - During the UFC "Go Big" press conference, when RDA and Cerrone were asked if he would fight Conor instead of each other, Conor retorts with "I change your bum life... it's a celebration... you call your wife, 'We're rich baby, break out the red panties...' "Playing touch butt in the park." - See Nate Diaz
GOOFCON 1 - See GOOFCON under Subreddit Memes
"Its only business..." - Between rounds against the Khabib Nurmagomedov fight, an exhausted McGregor delivered the hotly debated and infamous line. Debates raged over this line, with some people claiming Conor said "its only kisses" while many others heard "its only business". This fight became the highest selling PPV ever for the UFC so far.
Curtis Blaydes
- "BIG TITTY GO HOME!" - is a frequently quoted and meme'd line that was said by Curtis Blaydes after beating Justin Willis. The reason Blaydes said this is because Willis had been talking a lot of shit before the fight and is a play on his nickname "The Big Pretty".
Dana White
"That's fucking illegal!" - Dana White on Kimbo Slice and Elite XC.
The Goof - White frequently calls people "goof" on Twitter. /r/mma has started calling him The Goof for... eh, who knows?
"X was never my friend." - In reference to the Stitch Duran incident.
Don't Believe His Lies - Because Dana White is Dana White
"THE NOTORIOUS CONOR MCGREGOR!" - During the Mayweather - McGregor press conference, White introduces McGregor and becomes a racist caricature for a race that doesn't exist.
Daniel Cormier
"You think I'm just gonna sit here and let you...?" - Reference to a DC / Jones interview.
#TowelGate - Daniel Cormier did the towel trick (pushing the towel down to lighten yourself on the scale) in order to make weight for his UFC Light Heavyweight title defense against Rumble Johnson at UFC 210, which sparked controversy.
Derrick Lewis
Swanging and banging! - If there's a fight with brawling poor technique or an exchange of heavy punches you might get some "swanging and banging!" This comes from a meme rich post fight interview given by Derek Lewis after fighting Roy Nelson. Other gems from the interview are "sheeeeeit" and "heart of a champion".
"My balls is hot." - After Derrick Lewis knocks out Alexander Volkov, he utilizes the platform of a more popular card known as UFC 229 to drop this nugget of wisdom.

Dustin Poirier
- Salon Quality Poirier - Since moving up into the LW division Poirier is on a 9-1 tear with wins over guys like Pettis, Alvarez, Miller, Gaethje, and Holloway. He also grew his hair out and not only explained how he is a better fighter than Eddie, but also that he has better hair and dancing skills. Fans have nicknamed this new Mythical version of the Diamond "Salon Quality".
Floyd Mayweather
- FORM VOLTRON! - Floyd Mayweather to his team on the stage at the Brooklyn press conference. They proceeded to swarm Conor's team.
Francis Ngannou
Francis VS Ngannou - After a 5 round domination by Stipe Miocic, the fighter formerly known as "Francis Ngannou" was shattered into two seperate personalities in the same body. Much like The Hulk or Jekyll and Hyde before him, one personality was mild mannered and hesitant. This fighter, named Francis, delivered one of the worst fights of all time against a broken-backed Derrick Lewis. Fearing the worst for his career, fans questioned what the issue was. Luckily for them, ultra-violent Ngannou the Predator personality took control with devastating back to back first round knockouts over Blaydes and Velasquez. Fans can never really tell which personality has control at any given time, but one theory is that Francis wears suits and dresses professionally while Ngannou adorns himself in Dashikis and African Warlord attire.
This is sucks. - is a reference to Francis Ngannou tweeting that after UFC Mexico. The main event on that card ended in 15 seconds due to an illegal eye poke which indeed did "is sucks".
Georges St-Pierre
"It's just the angle" "GSP is huge" or any variations stem from this post where OP didn't want people to think he was a "manlet" so made sure to point out that the only reason it looked that way was because of the angle the photo was taken at, and because GSP is huge. Naturally, everyone in the comments jumped on this and took the piss out of him and hilarity ensued, creating one of our most classic memes.
"I am not impressed by your performance." - Georges St. Pierre in the post fight interview to Matt Hughes after his fight with BJ Penn.
"Let me tell you something, uneducated fool" - One of the more famous lines GSP directed at Nick Diaz during the build up to their fight.
Henry Cejudo
- Henry Cejudo has a gold medal? - When Henry Cejudo challenged Mighty Mouse for the flyweight title, the main marketing angle was that he has and Olympic gold medal in wrestling. It ends up being repeated endlessly whenever he is brought into discussion so the meme is to act like you've never heard that he has a medal, what it's for, or in what competition it was won.
Joanna Jedrzejczyk
- Jedrskxlzxjzxyuhbtlk - Joanna's surname is notoriously difficult to spell/pronounce, leading to many memorable instances where people get it wrong.
Joe Rogan
I think you'd be surprised - Part of Rogan's infamous breakdown of Brendan Shchaub when he was giving him "the talk" to tell him to retire.
Pull that up young Jamie - On his popular podcast, Rogan will often as producer Jamie to pull up videos for him to watch, often while in the middle of some bizarre discussion/monologue about elk blood, moon landings, etc.
Jon Anik
What the f--k is wrong with you, you chubby Jew? - The UFC commentator did an AMA here where he explained his inner monologue whenever he makes a mistake on a broadcast.
Jon Jones
Picograms - After being busted by USADA (the ratfucks), Jon forced Dana to move an entire card out of Vegas to California. Jones tested positive for picograms of Turinabol. At a press conference, Jones claimed to not know how to even say picograms. Enjoy this remix (loud-ish).
Hiding under a cage - Chael Sonnen stated that Jon once hid under the cage at Jackson Wink to avoid USADA representatives. The reps waited for 8 hours without realizing Jones was actually under the cage. Jones denies this. Colby Covington appeared on Chael's podcast and confirmed the story.
"Hey pussy are you still there?" - Jon Jones said this to Daniel Cormier after an interview where, unbenkowst to Jones, the cameras were still rolling.
Pussy slapping incident - Jones allegedly slapped a stripper in the pussy. The sub has a field day with it here and here.
Jones tested positive for cocaine usage which spurred a ton of memes.
"Tyson I'm sitting on about $8 million cash..." Jones fires back against Tyson Griffin in his DMs, which the latter publicized in a tweet.
"You’ve taken one too many acid trips, the shrooms are really starting to fuck with your head..." Jon Jones answers Diego Sanchez after he throws Jones under the bus.
Jorge Masvidal
3 Piece with a Soda - After Masvidal flatlined MW Darren Till in London, Leon Edwards was hungry for an opportunity to take some of his shine. Moments after Jorge left the Octagon, Leon Edwards and his gang of hoodlums interrupted Masvidals moment and interview backstage, where an altercation occurred. Gamebred generously fed the hungry Edwards a "3 piece with a soda" combo before gliding out of there. And thus a new meme was born.
Super Necessary - After months of back and forth chatter, Funky Ben Askren and Gamebred Masvidal finally got to settle it inside the octagon. Going into the fight as an underdog, no one expected what Masvidal would do next: set the record for fastest KO in UFC History with a cuban missile knee. This was also Askrens first loss ever after being a champ of ONE FC and Bellator in a long career.
Afterwards there was a bit of controversy due to the strikes before the stoppage and celebration after, to which Jorge explained in the post fight press conference his position and why the final punches were in fact "Super Necessary"
Askren himself had no hard feelings about it, and these days Jorge and Ben have been seen having much friendlier interactions over Twitter
Joseph Benavidez
- I used to fuck guys like you in high school - A phrase from season 24 of the ultimate fighter. The coaches Joseph Benavidez and Henry Cejudo face off and in an attempt to be intimidating, Benavidez tells Cejudo what he used to do to people of similar physique to him in high school.
Julian Lane
- LET ME BANG, BRO! - TUF competitor Julian Lane lost his fight on TUF, got pretty upset about it. Got drunk and wanted back in so he could "bang", bro.

Khabib Nurmagomedov
Tiramisu - Allegedly Khabib was eating the dessert during his weight cutting, and then failed to make weight. Khabib seems to be confused by this meme.
Number 1 boolshit - A phrase uttered numerous time by Russian UFC Lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov. It is not sure what the first iteration was but it was often said in response to Conor McGregor taking the title shot he was offered for UFC 205. "This is number 1 boolshit."
Khabib has also given us beauties such as "I fight your chicken. Ireland only 5 million. Russia 150 million." In reference to fighting Conor McGregor. He also said to Dana white "I fight your son," in reference to this fight in between rounds Beating the shit out of Michael Johnson.
Send location. - In reference to Conor attacking Khabib's bus, he said: “I am laughing inside. You broke window? Why? Come inside. If you real gangster why don’t you come inside? This is big history gangster place. Brooklyn. You want to talk to me? Send me location. I am going to come. No problem.”
HOW LONG MUST I WAIT for the mythical fight that is Khabib/ Ferguson that has been cancelled so 4 times. Possibly the best video on r/mma.
"Its only business..." - See Conor McGregor
GOOFCON 1 - See GOOFCON under Subreddit Memes
Kevin Lee
GSLee / LeeSP - Kevin Lee suffered back to back losses to Al Iaquinta and RDA. He decided to switch gyms and go to Tristar which is GSP's gym. Under the tutelage of GSP and Firas Zahabi, Tristar's famed head coach, Kevin Lee fought Gregor Gillespie and knocked him out with a beautiful head kick.
Fans started to notice some improvements in Kevin's fighting style and have called him "GSLee" or "LeeSP" due to his transformation at Tristar.
Mario Yamazaki
- "[Ref] was letting [fighter] be a warrior." - When asked about why it took so long for him to stop the unholy beating Valentina Shevchenko was putting on Priscila Cachoeira, referee Mario Yamasaki said he was letting her be a warrior.
Mark Hunt
Hassy - Hassy AKA Mark Hunt Superfan. He isn't so much a meme as he is a pillar of humanity. Hassy is a young (?) man from Japan who regularly makes illustrations involving Mark Hunt, Brock Lesnar and Fedor in strange overtly friendly situations, frequently drawing himself into the illustrations, as well. For example, take this picture of Hassy and Mark Hunt hanging out together in a pile of autumn leaves. Some of his fan art: 1, 2, 3, 4
how bout u go an fuck off my page then u peice of shit u think we need a stupid fuckwitt like u telling us about looking good who the fuck are u take your worthless advice and get the fuck out of here - Quote from Mark Hunt in response to somebody offering him advice on the Brock situation, became a hilarious copypasta used often around /r/mma.
happy new fucken steroid year 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀 - Mark Hunt going in on Dana White and Co. for moving UFC 232 to CA less than a week before it was scheduled to enable Jon Jones to compete despite his "atypical findings" of "Long Lasting M3 Metabolites".
Matt Serra
- Good, fuck him - Serra's famous exclamation when finding out that Anderson Silva had shattered his leg during his second championship fight with Serra trained fighter Chris Weidman. Later used as a flippant, callous response to any unfortunate event.
Max Holloway
- Holloway has a tendency to repeat the same phrases, including but not limited to: "It is what it is"/"UFC Hawaii"/"Let's do the damn thing, y'know"/"Kings go to other king's villages to conquer"/"Blessed era"
Michael Bisping
Buddeh - A reference to Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping's proclivity towards using the word "buddy" in conversation, spoken in his distinct accent. It is frequently accompanied by excessive finger pointing.
Sexy Wizard Bisping - Bisping gave an interview in which they listed things he gives zero fucks about. One was Halloween, his response was along the lines of "Why would I care about halloween? Am I going to dress up as a sexy wizard? Zero fucks given"
Left Hook Larry - christened to Bisping after he knocks out Luke Rockhold with a left hook.
Michael Chiesa
- Don't talk about my mom! - Michael Chiesa said this during a press conference when Kevin Lee (his upcoming opponent at the time) said "I heard his momma got tickets" and Chiesa got very heated.
Mike Goldberg
"Michael Jordan-esque in his grappling skills is Travis Lutter" - Made here at UFC 67 by play-by-play announcer Mike Goldberg, just before Anderson Silva stepped into the cage to take on Travis Lutter.
The meme has a lot of significance. First off, the immediate response from Joe of an assertive "no he's not" was both funny and accurate. Travis Lutter was a great grappler, but he did not show shades in his career of literally being the greatest grappler of all time, which is what being "Michael Jordan-esque" seems to indicate.
It is demonstrative of Goldberg's famously odd speech patters, sometimes dubbed by fans as "Yoda speak" for the way he would almost talk backwards at times.
Michael Johnson
- I eat my shit whole - Michael Johnson said this during a press conference when he was in a heated exchange with his upcoming opponent, Justin Gatheje
Mike Perry
Mike Perry on the MMA Hour where he answers the question "why do they call you Platinum?" He gave this interview outside of the courthouse because he had a probation meeting he couldn't miss.
Another MMA hour interview where Perry blesses us with the idiom "I don't hatch my eggs until they crack"
Mike Perry's knockout of Jake Ellenberger, complete with breakdancing and post fight interview and "whose life y'all want me to ruin next?"
Nate Diaz
"I'm not surprised motherfuckers!" - Nate Diaz after beating Conor McGregor.
"Playing touch butt in the park." - Nate mocks Conor McGregor's trainor Ido Portal.
Nate Diaz is a super heavyweight - This originates from his fights with Conor McGregor where Conor repeatedly pointed out that Nate was the much larger man, at one point after the second fight saying Nate 'was at least 200 in there'.
Nick Diaz
"Don't be scared homie!" - One of Nick's most iconic lines, telling KJ Noons not to be afraid to fight.
A gentleman never tells - A reference to a strangely out of character line uttered by Nick.
Wolf tickets - Nick Diaz mentioned that Dana and GSP were selling wolf tickets, and they were trying to market him as the bad guy.
Oh so we're throwing spinning shit now? - Nick Diaz to Carlos Condit during their interim title fight when Carlos Condit threw a spinning attack.
Diaz 1 2 5 - A reference to Nick Diaz's fight with Carlos Condit where fans argued he won due to taking rounds 1, 2 and 5. Used on this board in reference to any controversial judges decision. Also doubly used in reference to Nate Diaz' fans' argument for his second fight against Conor McGregor.
Nicco Montano
Nicco Montano nuking Ariel Helwani for his piece on her pullout of their match with Valentina Shevchenko.
This just in.... @arielhelwani is a huge waste of space. Everyone and their grandma knows about my condition. I’m 5days post tonsillectomy and adenoid removal surgery due to a bacterial infection that’s been inhibiting my practice all year. Soonest I can get back on the mats is 16 more days. The UFC not only knows about this but flew me out to Vegas themselves to get this surgery done ASAP so I can jump on getting a fight with Schevchenko lined up. If you’ve been a fan of mine then you know my mind set... no girl is anything I’m not. Who’s scared to fight? It’s what I do, it’s literally why I’m the anomaly here, because I was ranked #14 on the show and came out #1. It’s apparently in douchbag’s best interest to throw my name out to the wolves in order to stay relevant. I literally haven’t spoken a word in 5 days due to my condition and Mr. Poor Excuse of a Man has not only brought it upon himself to be the leader of idiot fans who don’t know the difference between MMA and UFC but also has the balls the size of a baby rat to say I’m scared while key board warrior over here is more than likely to eat a fat man’s ass than get in the octagon with HIS 125lbs Champ... 🎤 drop. ........ lesson of the day, don’t believe everything you read, idiots run their mouths. Ps, @arielhelwani you suck at your job, I heard MMA is looking for a better journalist who is actually knowledgeable
Nik Lentz
- The sub vs Lentz - With special guest appearance by Joe Lauzon
Paul Buentello
- Don't fear me! - One of the cringiest moments in MMA as Buentello tries to get the crowd to respond to his catchphrase.
Ronda Rousey
Shadow boxing - A reference to the unusual technique Ronda has been seen to employ while throwing punches.
Head movement!/Head mooment - during UFC 207 Nunes vs Rousey, Ronda's coach Edmond Tarverdyan can be heard going ballistic in her corner yelling "Head movement! Head movement!!! Head Movement!!" right before Ronda gets tko'd. Other notable quotes spammed by Tarverdyan are "Clench!!! Clench!!!" And "Noooooooo!".
Fake Ass Cheap Shotting Fake Respect Humility Bitch - during the UFC 193 weigh-ins Ronda Rousey, in attempt to intimidate the virtually universally beloved Holly Holm, became inexplicably aggresive during the face-off. The phrase would inevitably pop up through various /r/MMA threads whenever Rousey is mentioned, following Holly's upset headkick KO.
Sijara Eubanks
Queen of the 127.2lbs division. - In 2018 the UFC were struggling to find a headliner for UFC 230, to the extent that a Flyweight title bout between Valentina Shevchenko and Sijara Eubanks was teased as the main event, despite Sarge having a middling record and being unknown to most fans. Despite this, Sarge was boastful about her chances and how deserving she was of the fight, going as far to declare herself queen of the 125lb division. The fight was eventually scrapped and Sarge rebooked against Roxanne Modaferri on the 230 undercard, where despite all the trash talk, Sarge ended up missing weight and was forced to move to bantamweight.
Since then, queen of the 127.2lb division has been used as a negative jab against Eubanks, while variations of the meme are used for other female fighters who miss weight.
Stipe Miocic
- Immigrant mentality/Stiopic - A reference to Joey Diaz's assertion that Stipe had an immigrant mentality despite being from Cleveland, as well as mispronouncing his name.
Tito Ortiz
"He's reaching for those grapes. He's tryin to make his wine, and the wine's already soundin' like a, like a violin with that cheese and wine." - Tito Ortiz in this interview.
Tito Face - At Bellator 180, after defeating Wanderlei Silva, Chael Sonnen gets on the mic and begins talking trash about Tito Ortiz. The side by side camera captures Titos reaction to Sonnen. The image hit r/mma by storm, many users use titoface as reaction posts to news, replies, reactions and other meme uses. But it wasn't only popular with the users, r/mma mods took a liking to titoface as well, using it as the new spoiler tag over the very short-lived Mayweather face.
Here are the memeable lines from the Sonnen - Ortiz press conference:
Sonnen: "The only person I know that made money using their mouth is his ex-wife"
Ortiz: "Well just to correct you, there was never no marriage"
Ortiz: "You're a fucking punk dude"
Sonnen: "That was a nasty line by me"
Sonnen: “They don’t call me the Bad Guy for nothin'”
Ortiz: “Bad Girl”
TJ Dillashaw
[Shooting for a] Single leg - After TJ Dillashaw got smoked by Cejudo he complained that the stoppage was early and that he was shooting for a single leg when the fight was stopped. The stoppage was fair and TJs single leg attempt wasn’t a great one, so now when speaking about stoppages and someone talks about shooting for a single leg, it’s in reference to Dillashaw. Usually you’ll see this one sarcastically used for late stoppages
"It is with a heavy heart that I, Coach Cal..." - Coach Cal is a coach for TJ Dillashaw. When Dillashaw failed a drug test, Coach Cal came out with the statement below:
“It is with a heavy heart that I, Coach Cal, the owner, founder, and purveyor of The Treigning Lab, have recently seen the defeat of one of our family members in recent months. This defeat is not due to the skills and combat savvy of an opponent of flesh, but rather a defeat at the perilous hands of a far more sinister foe; the demon of self doubt which haunts each and everyone of us at one time or another in our lives.
“As a man of few words, preferring passion and belief as a shield to be carried out upon, I am bemused to careless and reckless dialog for no other purpose than to make myself heard among the masses plagued by willful ignorance. However, there is an appropriate, and even required time for the head of a family to speak out. And, this is such a time.
“The Treigning Lab in no way condones or encourages our family of athletes, worldwide, to partake in the perilous downward spiraling helix of synthetic performance enhancement. To do so is not only harmful to the individual but also harmful to the brothers, sisters, and other family members who are judged guilty by association. Yet, the arena of public scrutiny is heavily weighted down with the enigma of fear for what it does not understand. To that end, the fact remains that The Treigning Lab, in concept and private practice established itself among Olympic and collegiate wrestlers in the year 2001 and has embarked on the life changing journey through sport with thousands of athletes spanning almost two decades of unparalleled excellence.
“We use quantitative analysis, metabolically accurate nutrition, proper supplementation, recovery facilitation, intelligence, and a training regiment of such high intensity that few have the wherewithal to imagine, much less would dare to embrace. In the same amount of time, our athletes have never failed a single mandated test, yet reside among the elite in each of their chosen sports; standing at the top of the podium of character and integrity.
“The Treigning Lab was built upon the foundation of integrity, hard work, and most importantly family. So, in light of recent events The Treigning Lab and it’s affiliates would, first, like to thank USADA for upholding the standard of sterling athletic practices and offering tests to ensure the safety and fairness of competitive sports. That being said, we would also like to thank all those who have come forward at this time to show their genuine concern for all of our athletes, especially TJ Dillashaw, a fallen soldier on the battlefield of public expectation and demand for perfection. Although, not right, and inexcusable, TJ succumbed to the relentless pressure to win at any cost for the purposes of appeasing his employers, pleasing his fan base, and providing for his family; a sentiment that we all can relate to.
“He has now accepted the repercussions of his decisions; and as such, it is our decision as The Treigning Lab family, to stand beside him in his journey forward.”

Tony Ferguson
"Shut up before I ankle-pick you." - Tony threatens Fabricio Werdum after Werdum constantly interrupts Ferguson's interview.
Metro PCS logo - After a fight against Lando Vannata, Ferguson claimed he fell on the ground not because he had been rocked but because he slipped on the adverts on the octagon canvas.
"I'm not a rat. I'm a turtle. A ninja turtle. Who's your favorite? I like Michelangelo." - No explanation needed.
HOW LONG MUST I WAIT for the mythical fight that is Khabib/ Ferguson that has been cancelled so 4 times. Possibly the best video on r/mma.
Tony Ferguson is the type of guy - Tony Ferguson is an eccentric fighter to say the least, with granby rolls and spinning elbows as his signature moves. Alongside his permanent sunglasses and manner of Tweeting While Capitalizing The First Letter In Every Word, the MMA memesters came up with the foundation for a new meme.
Some examples:
Tony Ferguson is the type of guy to stare at the sun to condition his eyes
Tony Ferguson the type of guy to sit on his TV and watch his chair
Tony Ferguson is the type of guy to give his corner advice between rounds
Tony Ferguson is the type of guy to sleep with the mattress on top of him
Urijah Faber
- "This is a simulated death match... and you haven't simulated anyone's death yet." - Urijah Faber to Dominick Cruz.
Valentina Shevchenko
- "Her nose is rose..." - Valentina arguing in her post-fight interview that she won the championship bout against Amanda Nunes because of the color of latter's proboscis.
- "Of all the women's MMA champions of all time (so far) she seems like the most 'complete' human being - by far." - u/766AP eloquently narrates why Shevchenko is the pinnacle of evolution. Here is Jack Slack narrating the quote.
Vitor Belfort
X is ducking Vitor, Bro - Popularized on The Tommy Toe Hold Show, an MMA parody youtube channel. Pretty much every time Vitor's character is on the show, he's saying "X is ducking Vitor Bro, everybody ducking Vitor", etc. If you search his channel for "Vitor" or search youtube for "TTTHS Vitor" you will see a number of videos that his character is in where he says this.
TRTor - Another 'mythical fighter' this refers to the 2013 version of Vitor Belfort, who took advantage of an exemption in the rules to roid up to an insane degree, hide in Brazil from commissions, learn to kick properly and then wiped out Bisping, Hendo and Rockhold in a single year. Not only did this lead to the end of the TRT exemption, Vitor was forced to wait for a long time before his title shot with Chris Wiedman, deflating like a balloon in the process.
Wanderlei Silva
- I want to fuck Chuck - After signing with the UFC, Wanderlei Silva called out Chuck Liddel in broken English.
Yoel Romero
- Gay Jesus - After his win over Lyoto Machida, Yoel Romero (a Christian fighter, known as the Soldier of God) tried to share his religious beliefs by saying "No forget Jesus" in the post-fight interview. Due to Yoel's heavy Cuban accent , broken English, and the recent legalization of gay marriage in the US at the time, many people interpreted it as "No for gay Jesus" - presumably an anti-gay comment. There was social media backlash despite it being due to a simple language barrier.

Your Complete Guide to GOOFCON
The current GOOFiness CONdition (GOOFCON) is an alert state used by the Mixed Martial Arts Community to inform the community of the current status of high jinks within the MMA world.

It increases in severity from GOOFCON 5 (least severe) to GOOFCON 1 (most severe) to match varying levels of craziness in the world of Mixed Martial Arts.
"The bullies show themselves."
- So "the bullies show themselves" happened in the GD thread when user iLL_Behaviour told another regular, Jfkc5117, who posts uplifting messages about how we're crushing it to "Shut up" and got banned for that which started a huge discussion in the GD thread which prompted this response by buzznights and naturally you couldn't say much in the GD thread the next few days without getting told to shut up or being accused of showing yourself.

TranyPanda
u/tranypanda aka He Who Shall Not Be Named. A notorious /r/mma user who would occasionally go off the rails and post sexually explicit material, resulting in frequent bans. Permanently banned for this comment:
Nah. Cat is on another level. I can barely bring myself to think about her sexually at a time like this. I just wanna be her baby boy Brayden and tell her "it's okay mommy you're still my champion" as I proceed to get breast fed.

Bangkok ready
Refers to a fighter who is delusional about their muay thai (or could be general striking) abilities.
It originates from a hilarious story by Eddie Bravo on JRE where he tells a story about a guy with a rock solid BJJ game who studied muay thai for 6 months and in the process thought he was basically Saenchai. His striking coach declared him "Bangkok ready". What this is referring to is the capital in Thailand where the biggest muay thai fights happen and that basically he could go there and hold his own against the world's elite (which is hilariously delusional).
The guy walks out to an MMA fight in traditional muay thai gear and as a result his opponent clearly assumes this guy must be LEGIT AS FUCK at striking, and so he shoots for a takedown as soon as the fight starts. Though Mr Bangkok Ready doesn't win the fight, he managed to accidentally stumble into a mind game in which his opponent played to his strengths.
The Bus Driver and/or Marge Simpson Uppercut
A description reserved for the finest of uppercuts. Ones where a fighter's fist seems to rise from the depths of hell to meet their opponent's jaw. The maneuver can be seen on full display in this video of a bus driver dealing with an unruly passenger. You can also observe a still frame of the technique courtesy of Marge Simpson.
Notable examples of the bus driver uppercut in MMA include:
If he dies, he dies
- A quote from Ivan Drago (Rocky IV), used in r/MMA as a reference to Mario Yamasaki's often late stoppages. e.g.: Browne Vs Lewis. Of late, Herb Dean has elicited this quote quite often.
Giblert Melendez and Anderson Aldo
- Reebok's notoriously shitty fighter kits included misspelled names, wrong names, and sometimes even the wrong country.
Thick Solid Tight
- The copypasta originated with Bodybuilding.com user unconditional, who would send users friend requests and direct messages complimenting their pictures. In multiple requests, he said “Awesome pics. Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight.” The earliest recorded example was posted on July 28th, 2009 (shown below). The full copypasta goes “Awesome pics. Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. Keep us all posted on your continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips. Show us what you got man. Wanna see how freakn’ huge, solid, thick and tight you can get. Thanks for the motivation.”
