Jeff Molina on the support he's gotten since the incident (via TheMMAHour) by LuckyWarriorThe Champion Has A Name in MMA

Yeah it’s genuinely horrible stuff. not sure if it was leaked by an ex partner or if he was targeted and hacked, but either way its disgusting. so much admiration for how well Jeff is taking this publicly; really hope he’s doing okay privately as well.

Leon Edwards scoffs at Colby Covington title shot guarantee: ‘Dana White privilege is definitely real’ by StoryOfTheFight in MMA

[–]G0ldenG00se 465 points466 points  (0 children)

Dana Response to Leon Edwards - If you examine this piece of skull here you'll notice three distinct dimples. Here, here and here. Now, if I was holdin' the skull of an Colby Covington or a Strickland, these three dimples would be found in the area of the skull most associated with creativity. But this is the skull of Ariel Helwanie And in the skull of Ariel Helwanie unburdened by genius, these three dimples exist in the area of the skull most associated with servility. Now bright boy, I will admit you are pretty clever. But if I took this hammer here, and I bashed in your skull with it, you would have the same three dimples...in the same place...as Ariel Helwanie

This would absolutely destroy what is left of MMA's credibility as an actual merit-based sport.

Imagine this: you're a former LW who has lost three of your last five fights. You bulk up to WW (where your current record is 0–1, with that loss being against a lightweight fighter, no less) and fight a short lightweight who has also lost three fights out of his last five at lightweight and has never fought at welterweight in the UFC.

With that win you would then be granted a shot at the title over guys like Belal, who has 8 wins and one NC in his last nine fights at welterweight.

But yeah, I honestly think Dana would have no problem with that, so that's pretty likely what we're gonna get.

Mike Swick announces he’s officially cancer-free by RafiakaMacakaDirkPetrol Pumper Werdum in MMA

Yeah - My daughter has metastatic recurrent osteosarcoma, a bone cancer that metastasizes to the lungs. I guess in blood cancers the CAR-T treatment where they reprogram your T-cells has been a real revolution. Some of the "kemias" are seeing a 95% response rate with over 60% getting to full remission.

Explanation for /r/mma: Cancer cells in most forms take advantage of certain protein building blocks in the body to form in a way that is different from regular cells. Those proteins are required for cancer cells to grow, but often are superfluous for regular cells and not found in them. So doctors have found a way (through MRNA and DNA splicing) to tell your body's own T-cells that these certain proteins are bad, like REALLY bad, and the T-cells should devote all their energy to destroying these proteins instead of looking around for strep bacteria or whatever they were doing before to fight disease. To get this treatment, they extract a patient's own T-cells, send them to NIH in Washington DC, reprogram them there, ship them back to the patient, and inject them back into the body. It's about as hard in terms of a procedure for the patient as donating platelets and then getting 2 flu shots. And it has seen absolutely remarkable results.

Analogy for /r/mma: Imagine you're at a small fight promotion and Francis Ngannou comes in. Turns out he's in an unsanctioned fight against some local tomato can. You're just sitting in the audience having a good time, eating snacks, getting fat. This is great! In the 3rd round, Ngannou is done toying with the guy and knocks his head off. Just as he does, referee Mark Goddard shows up in a white lab coat. He hands Francis a note. He reads it. He looks up and turns to you. He climbs out of the cage and as he's walking your direction he tells you he's going to rip your arms off and feed them to you. He is seriously pissed.

You're the cancer-causing protein. The tomato can is a cold virus. Mark Goddard is the scientist and Francis Ngannou is the T-cell of your nightmares. The note Mark Goddard handed Ngannou said "This is a note from the future - That guy right there in the audience becomes a despotic ruler and kills everyone in your home country of Cameroon, you're the only one who can stop him."

Sean O’Malley: Francis Ngannou made ‘the biggest mistake of his life’ leaving UFC by stoolsample2 in MMA

[–]Robinho311 767 points768 points  (0 children)

Ngannou is in the unfortunate position that his division has very little talent outside the UFC but it's our job as fans to not let the UFC succeed with their monopoly hold on the sport and to not punish fighters for standing up to this. The recent news on the updated UFC contracts make it clear they are going to war against their own fighters. The business model now relies on making sure fighter pay is as low as possible and going nuclear on any fighter or media member who speaks up.

Even if Francis makes significantly less money him standing up for himself and others should still be honored by fans and it should be called out any time fighters and media suck up to the UFC.

That would be really fucked up, but it's one of the only ways of fighting him lol
