Readr is another browser extension that pops up a window for a more enjoyable reading experience.

Zen Mode

Note: This only works on old Reddit with CSS-enabled

Zen Mode removes the distracting elements of the subreddit so you can focus on the important things.

Ghost Writer Mode

Note: This only works on old Reddit with CSS-enabled

Click here to hide all usernames from the subreddit unless you hover over them. This is useful if you'd rather not know who wrote the stories as you read them.

Story Time Mode

Note: This only works on old Reddit with CSS-enabled

Click here to hide usernames and post titles so you can just go read stories without knowing the prompt or who wrote it (unless you hover)

Reddit Enhancement Suite

Reddit Enhancement Suite (RES) is browser extension that gives you many additional reddit features. Several of them are useful when using /r/WritingPrompts:

  • Live Preview: As you type your story, you can check to see how it will look once submitted. This is helpful to make sure you have the formatting correct without editing it later. There are also several shortcuts, like bold, italics, etc.
  • Big Editor: Is the small comment box too small for you? You can pop up a bigger box with a bigger live preview on the side!
  • Never Ending Reddit: Sick of clicking next to find a prompt? Just keep scrolling and the prompts keep appearing!
  • Show/Hide All Child Comments: Want to scroll down a prompt and only see the stories? Hide all the child comments, read away, and show the children of a story if you choose.
  • Filter Posts: One complaint we hear a lot is that people don't like prompts about "A" or prompts about "B". I won't try to convince why we don't want to remove such prompts here, but with RES you can define certain keywords to automatically hide!
  • Many other features that are helpful too, so check it out!
