We were able to get an FIR registered at Mukherjee Nagar Police Station regarding the assault on us, three Muslim journalists by Hindu right-wingers at Hindu Mahapanchayat in Delhi’s Burari ground yesterday afternoon. FIR has been filed under section 323, 341 and 34 of IPC. 1/n

This happened in India’s capital Delhi. A Mahapanchayat was called where hate speech was raised against Muslims. Muslim journalists were attacked and could have been lynched. All in Delhi! 2/2

I had gone as press representative of to cover the Hindu Mahapanchayat event. When I showed them my letter and ID, they said “It doesn’t matter. You’re a Muslim.” They then repeatedly called me a Jihadi. They then checked my Aadhar and said that I’m from Jamia. 1/2

The police men were pushing both of us. We had no idea who they were. We thought they were also part of the Hindu mob and would soon attack us. We both were followed by around a mob of 150 right-wingers. They were calling us and saying that we’ll be beaten. 6/n

We showed them our IDs but they still threatened us. Two policemen came to take us but the mob didn’t allow them. Both of us were again manhandled. Two female police officers and two male policemen in plain clothes came to us and forcefully took us away to a secluded place. 5/n
