Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer by downwiththedogs in videos

[–]downwiththedogs[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Two dead, headless, featherless chickens were animated using stop-motion and shown dancing along to the synthesised shakuhachi solo. This section was animated by Nick Park, of Aardman Animations, who was refining his work in plasticine animation at the time.

lmfao i can tell you have no fuckin idea what you're talking about

this is bad even by your so called 'contemporary' standards. this would be considered 'mediocre' if it had dropped a few years before then when the soundcloud scene hadn't been brought to the mainstream yet. that's why people like lil yachty and their hits are still talked about today. they brought something new to the table even if their music wasn't technically 'good' when judged by oldhead standards or whatever. lil xan came out mid 2018, during the tail end of it. its sound was already overdone to death by then. that's why he's completely reduced to irrelevancy today.

all lil xan was was a shittier/less punchy version of lil peep. there are absolutely no defining characteristics to his music. that's what makes it awful. because at least most bad music you can point to and say 'oh it's by that one shitty artist'. his music is all tried trends that others have done better. sure, you can point me to some obscure 16 year old soundcloud rapper who makes 'worse' music technically but at least that contains some kind of soul/genuineness. this is absolutely one of the worst given that it was commercialized and backed up by a major fuckin label. it's widely regarded as one of the worst hip hop albums of the 10s by pretty much every major music reviewer and music reviews site.

i can't believe i'm really out here explaining why lil xan is terrible to a so-called 'contemporary' music reviewer. you probably need to find another job

Who is an excellent hip hop artist without a single classic? by wholelottahate19 in hiphop101

shabazz palaces. black up may be considered a classic, but they're still relatively underground.

kinda but not particularly. it's more soundcloud rap. typical mumble rap artists would be desiigner, future, kodak black, young thug etc where you REALLY can't understand what they're saying most of the time

a common misconception among hip hop elitists and older people in general is that all mumble rap tends to be unlistenable. however, there are some pretty classic albums that are honestly really good and shaped the evolution of hip hop in the 2010s.

some good mumble rap tracks:

Future - Monster

Young Thug - Harambe

Playboi Carti - Location

ds2 is mid compared to monster. that mixtape is pure unadulterated peak 2010s trap.

i always try and listen to the accents to differentiate. a 3/4 generally has accents on the 1-3-5 when double timed but a 6/8 has accents on the 1-4
