Silence of the lambs / Hannibal - Lecter gets away but Starling promises she will never stop hunting him.

Saw - Kramer and his apprentices get killed in the end.

Se7en - the villain gets killed. And even though technically it’s what he wanted, you can empathise with the protagonist’s reason for doing so.

No Country For Old Men - Chigurh vanishes, but is left severely crippled at the end, and remains on the wanted list.

Primal Fear - Roy reveals his true Color’s, but the protagonist realizes the error of his ways and vows never to make the same mistake again.

The Godfather - Michael Corleone eventually gets his comeuppance at the end of the saga.

The Omen - Damian is finally defeated at the end of the saga.

Nightmare on elm street - Freddy is finally vanquished in “Freddy’s Dead”

The Wicker Man - there will definitely be an investigation as to what happened, and the crops may well fail again, leaving Lord Summarisle screwed.

The only one I have to agree with you on is Basic Instinct, although the fates of the protagonists are left highly ambiguous.

The other movies I haven’t seen.

Me too. And it did literally nothing before me. But I had taken Ritalin earlier that day.

NBK’s comment on modern culture imo is completely inaccurate. But hey, that’s just my opinion.

I’ll agree with you regarding cannibal Holocaust. I thought the deaths were fake.

For NBK, I just saw 90 minutes of sheer brutalism, chaos, impulsive violence, and not a shred of civility. With NBK, all I saw was madness. For the record, there must be a reason why Quentin Tarantino has completely disowned this movie.

And btw, please list just a few movies where evil truly does conquer over good.

I know it’s a satire. But it does it in such a brutal and sadistic way that you feel that evil truly does conquer over good.

As for the animal cruelty in Cannibal Holocaust, I wasn’t aware of that. Disgusting.

At least with the latter 2 movies, the evil-doers get their comeuppance.

I guess my line would be at least some trace of humanity or morality or decency. In the movies I listed, there was NONE of that.

NBK for a different reason. It’s nowhere near as brutal as the other movies, but it is completely devoid of any morality. It glorifies serial killers as heroes/celebrities.

Note the number of real life murders that were inspired by it.

Ok I’ll make it easier. Here is an example of a product that offers both testing of presence of compound and additional testing for purity:

The Toxic Avenger - one of the greatest movies ever made by agwoodliffe in horror

[–]agwoodliffe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thing is, that scene was so outrageous that I couldn’t possibly take it seriously. It was done in a way that you knew you couldn’t take it seriously.

A polar opposite example would be the murder of the child in Doctor Sleep.

Notice the difference between the two examples.
