Description

Reddit is the place where people come together to have the most authentic and interesting conversations on the internet—Where gaming communities, nostalgic internet forums, bloggers, meme-makers, and fandoms mingle alongside video streamers, support groups, news junkies, armchair experts, seasoned professionals, and artists and creators of all types.

With over 100,000 communities about every topic you could think of (and a few you’d probably never think of if it wasn’t for the creativity of strangers on the internet), Reddit is the place where you can dive into anything and connect with people on any topic.

A few things you’ll find on Reddit…

■ Thousands of communities
Whether you're into breaking news, sports, TV fan theories, or a never-ending stream of the internet's cutest animals, there's a community on Reddit for you.
■ Laughs, lols, and plenty of ridiculousness
Lose track of vast amounts of time as you find memes, bananas for scale, bread stapled to trees, cat videos, and more of the absurd and oddly absorbing.
■ The best discussions
The real action is always in the comments. Reddit’s discussion threads are where community members jump in to provide commentary, humor, and insight.
■ Answers to questions you’re too afraid to ask in public
Recipes, street fashion, career help, fitness plans, and more—find ideas and inspiration for whatever you want to do.
■ Live video streams, chats, and talks
Want to know what people are doing right now? Streaming videos, live chats, and live audio conversations give you a variety of ways to connect with people in the moment.
■ Crowd-sourced points of view on just about everything
Product reviewers, music critics, sports fans, or doge enthusiasts—find people that obsess and care about whatever it is you’re interested in.
■ Anonymous profiles so you can do you
On Reddit, you (not your job, number of friends, or social status) define who you are.
■ Lots and lots of cats

Whether you love movies, kittens, science, kittens, politics, or kittens, Reddit’s official app puts all this (plus kittens) at your fingertips. With a colorful and intuitive layout, it’s easy to browse and post to “the front page of the internet” across thousands of subreddits that cater to virtually every area of interest. Search for communities that line up with your hobbies; filter posts by posting time, hotness, and more; and get a breakdown of your own Redditing history to see where you reaped all that sweet, sweet karma. (Pro tip: You can’t go wrong with pictures of—you guessed it—kittens.)

Unpopular opinion vs negative comments

I really enjoy Reddit and it’s functionality. It’s freedom of expression in all forms. But when It comes to different opinions, I feel it lacks a function! The current layout is like/dislike. I got it. Seems cut and dry. But when it comes to actual conversations on the platform, I wish there were another option besides you can only like or dislike. I can disagree with people with out disliking everything they are trying to express. I wish there were a way to disagree with a post or comment by not giving a thumbs down, but maybe a split opinion button. Like a neutral position ( towards the specific comment) but a way to disagree and provide feedback without just straight up being hated and bombarded by thumbs down. And I get it. Some people are just ignorant and can’t provide legitimate arguments. But someone that is willing to have an educated debate on the subject/comment, should have a way to comment negatively on the post but offer a separate side bar (like change my mind function) instead of flat out having to be killed by down votes. I think there would be way more people commenting on good topics if they weren’t afraid of the thumbs down karma consequences of having a different opinion. Thanks for taking the time to read my rambling.

Fix the Bottom Bar Please!

Writing a review hoping this gets fixed so I can change the rating to five stars. The app will randomly change the orientation of the tabs at the bottom of the screen. Sometimes the app will open with my home page and five buttons at the bottom with the notifications on the far right, which is ideal. However, sometimes it opens to the world news tab and instead of a notifications tab, there is one that says “more” with three dots, where I can then click on notifications from a menu. Not only is this an annoying extra couple steps, there is no need for it since there is nothing else. On top of that, when I view my notifications this way, I cannot get to my profile in the same notifications tab. I can bring up the sidebar while viewing notifications, but when I click on my profile it just returns to my notification feed. Thought it was something that surely would have gotten caught and fixed quickly but the app was updated two days ago and this is still happening.
