That's a good tip, thanks. I give them a pet name like "pumpkin" or "goose". Thanks!

Another vote here for getting two twins. You can find some great mattresses at Mattress Firm that were returned by their previous owner during a 90-day trial period. They're exactly like a new mattress, but they were just too firm/soft for the initial buyer. Also, they usually have 0-interest credit options through Synchrony. They've always taken good care of me, and they never flinch at me asking for "the cheapest mattress you've got".

Thanks! I definitely have local guitar shops on the mental to-do list. I'll be cautious of web listings, but I'm still going to check them out.

Thanks for the advice. Someone else had the same advice, so maybe this is the right way to go. It's a good point.

My comment to them was: Hmm. Maybe I will go this way then... Idk, he seems like the type to spend money on something "more practical", like anyone who's come through being really broke. I almost think it'd be less enjoyable for him to be the one to pick it bc he'd see all the prices. But I don't want to get him something he's less likely to play .. hmm, food for thought.
