My Samsung front load washer turns on, allows me to change cycle but when I press start, it just beeps. Only way to make it work is to leave it on for 5-10 minutes after which it makes a small beep. If I press start button then, it will start spinning and completes wash cycle.

Its a 10 year old washer which has been working without any issues. I am not sure if this is a fuse or door latch issue since it works fine after few minutes. I tried unplugging, let it reset but still the same. Could there be any issue with the control panel? Please advise.

hello,

so I recently moved into a new flat and a couple of days ago my toilet suddenly became full to the brim after I flushed. I thought it was clogged so I did the hot water & dish soap trick and it worked, the water drained, however, when I flushed again, the water came to the brim of the toilet once again. I tried pushing the float in the tank down and removed the water in the toilet and flushed again but it became just as full to the brim again. I have also tried plunging, of course, and it doesn't work either. What else can I do/what does it seem like the problem is? Am I going to have to call someone?
TIA!

What we do

We strive above all to be a sub that provides a community service, and as such we hold ourselves to certain standards. Keep the comments on-topic, you can make jokes, it's fine, just don't go off the rails. Do not market anything here without asking the mods first (spoiler, we're gonna say no), don't be posting links to Amazon.com with affiliate codes in them either. Don't post about things you've already solved or made, /r/DIY is a better place for that.

Passing good fixes forward

Further to this goal of providing a service; If someone's comment provides you with a working solution to your issue (or if you just plain figure it out for yourself) post a comment singling out what the solution ultimately was and please flair your post as Fixed. Hopefully this will let future readers learn from our collective successes.

Posting for Maximum Effect

When you make your submission, post a detailed description of your issue and the friendly users here will do their best to sort you out.

do your best to include:

  • A detailed description of the problem.

  • Detailed photos are often a plus. This can mean, for example, close up photos of a part as well as photos from farther back, and/or different angles, which give significant context.

  • If there is a part number or a model number on something you suspect or know to be at issue definitely include that.

  • A description of the event(s) or circumstances that lead up to or were present at the time the issue arose.

Safety

There are things that are too dangerous for us to handle here. This can include certain electrical jobs, or natural gas plumbing jobs for example. Rule of thumb, if there's any reasonable chance you could get hurt or killed if something went awry you'll probably be directed to find yourself an expert.

Basic Decorum

Don't engage in racism, sexism, creeedism, homophobia, transphobia, or general assholery. The banhammer is swift and unforgiving.

Last but not least. The Prime Directive

Above all else: Be Excellent to Each Other
