The good news is that my evacuated Ukrainian nieces had a proper French breakfast in Paris this morning! Picture attached. The bad news is that while walking by Notre Dame de Paris-and being told that it had been on fire -they reflexively asked if Russian Air Force had bombed it.

How did you obtain visas? Did they have them prior to conflict? I heard of some B1/2 visas being given out of Poland but no movement to give expedited interviews at other embassies…

Cannot fathom the military illiteracy that depicts the possible arrival of 16,000 Syrian troops in Ukraine as significant. They only ever fought Arab civilians with few or no weapons (& did v poorly viz Kurds). If they do arrive they will quickly run off to Germany as refugees

Why does he have to say it? It only emboldens Russia to escalate and demoralises Ukrainians. Russia perceives it as a sign of weakness. Ukrainians perceive it as if they are being sacrificed. Very bad messaging unworthy of the great country
