What #China gov is doing with a #Uyghur woman bearing torch is more than politicizing the Games: It's also sexism - exploiting a woman's "smiling face and youthful figure" for sportswashing crimes against humanity.

THREAD: Since 2017, I've met dozens of Uyghurs searching for their kids, many who'd been sent to boarding schools. What these schools were like was a mystery, gleaned from text messages, social media & state docs -- until 2 brave kids shared their story.

?Urgent that take this step now. has seen too many schools make these kinds of mistakes, admit error, and move on. They don't realize that they've only just seen the tip of an iceberg.

4. Students who put up posters and inform me incident are still worried be doxed & revenged by groups like CSSA / CCA. GW should look into the intimidating behaviours from those groups & protect students, especially Chinese students form harassment & manipulation of these groups.

Governments should be deeply troubled by what's happening to Hong Kongers exercising their basic rights. Even an Australian-Chinese citizen is charged under Hong Kong's draconian National Security Law & could face up to life in prison for 'subversion'. abc.net.au/news/2022-02-0
